Review of Splash Mountain @ Magic Kingdom
-2 Rating Posted by: Chet on 9/7/2003 1:11:00 PM
This ridde has a great drop... one of the best on a log flume. The themeing was pretty good, but not that great. The singing drove me crazy and was really annoying, so that brings it odwn ot a 7

how could u hate this ride!! it was so fun!!!! the story is based on a disney story about the brair rabbit, i know the story was kinda cheesy, but this is the best log flume ive been on!!
Danny on 9/27/2003 9:59:14 PM said:
A lot of people criticize the ride for the same reasons. You people need to remember, this is Disney World were talking about. What did you honestly expect?
Chet on 9/27/2003 10:02:41 PM said:
i expected a better ride, and a shorter ride... and maybe a higher drop... but thats pushing it.
Sephiroth7 on 9/27/2003 11:26:37 PM said:
"A shorter ride"....good lord, soon people will begin to complain that coasters drops are getting too tall...
MovieCoast on 9/28/2003 12:31:49 PM said:
I loved this ride...the themeing was great, the drops were kool, but yes it was a little kiddish...but hey...ITS DISNEY!!!
Chet on 9/28/2003 9:43:20 PM said:
disney is great, but not for thrill rides. but, this thing was just annoying. :"DA DA DA" <---- whatever the song is they sing: was stuck in my head all day. the tower of terror was new when i went (1996), and that ride was the first major thrill ride i was on. Splash mountain was annoying... but i already established that fact.
Sephiroth7 on 9/30/2003 1:10:31 AM said:
Im not saying it didnt annoy you, I just think its funny complanining a ride is TOO long....
Chet on 9/30/2003 3:17:21 PM said:
:lol2:yeah, it is. but with roller coasters, well, id like to go on a 10 minute one with like 30 inversions and a 300 ft. lift, but thats just me. coasters are NEVER too long... except for viper...
vbarbieri on 10/9/2003 2:59:15 PM said:
This is Disney and if you are looking to be frightened you really need to have your parents take you to Universal. Splash Mountain is a great ride with a wonderful theme. And the fact that the song stays with you is a testimonial to the staying power of this excellent attraction. No way a 3
Chet on 10/9/2003 8:52:49 PM said:
well, i guess you rate rides differently.
vbarbieri on 10/10/2003 2:17:46 PM said:
We obviously do. I try to see what the ride is trying to accomplish and I judge it accordingly. I would never compare Top Thrill Dragster to Splash Mountain nor would I compare Apollos Chariot and Big Thunder Mountain. Thrills and spills, twists and turns are one dimension of a ride but as you get older you will see that.
Axman on 10/20/2003 7:22:54 PM said:
God Your a hypocrit.P.S. Im only twelve so I cant say I woud take some one saying that my reviews were bogus as well as the next guy.
vbarbieri on 10/25/2003 5:23:18 PM said:
Well AXMAN if this comment is meant for me you may want to consult a dictionary to check the meaning and correct spelling of hypocrite, speaking your mind and rating rides accordingly is not hypocricy. But as a 7th grader I am certain you will get to those words soon. Stick to the facts AXMAN do you like the ride or not. You 12 year olds need to stick together, now get a shower and jump into your FOOTY PJs and get to bed.
Chet on 10/25/2003 5:44:44 PM said:
vbarbieri, you should just shut up and get off the site. who are you to say whos right and whos wrong? as for the PJs: 1, dont wear them, and 2, you probably wear them cause youre thinking about them. i think youre the one that should grow up, you @$$
vbarbieri on 10/25/2003 10:23:21 PM said:
Actually the comment was meant for AXMAN but I guess Chet as a 12 year old you little dudes stick together. I think by the comments you receive it should be clear to you that you have a very childish and one dimensional view of a ride. When you grow up you will see the rides the way they were meant to be ridden not through the eyes of a 12 year old who needs thrills and spills. As a 12 year old I would probably have done the same thing. I know you wont get to read this until tomorrow because it is after 10:00PM sweet dreams, and dont take everything so personal little dude.
Chet on 10/26/2003 11:06:59 AM said:
will you stop calling me little dude! its getting somewhat annoying. and i happen to know what ill think of splash mountain next time i go. the same thing i thought now. now stop treating me like a little baby.
vbarbieri on 10/26/2003 1:40:13 PM said:
Well spoken and I will stop referring to you as a little kid. This site is supposed to be fun. Just be open minded every ride doesnt have to scare you half to death.
Chet on 10/26/2003 7:55:31 PM said:
thank you!
vbarbieri on 10/27/2003 3:15:26 PM said:
No problem!!
Axman on 11/3/2003 8:48:54 PM said:
Why are you fighting?Im sorry I cant spell to well but if you knew me a little better you might be impresed(I dont think I spelled that right). Vbarbieri, why dont YOU get off the site, get your @$$ into your shower and put on YOUR footys and get to bed.
tacoking on 11/4/2003 9:08:29 AM said:
Why did you go to Magic Kingdom in the first place then? You shoulda known what to expect at this park.
vbarbieri on 11/4/2003 10:57:56 PM said:
Axman relax you are a nice 12 yr old with an attitude and as for you Chet great review of Splash Mountain
tacoking on 11/5/2003 8:33:09 AM said:
Come on Chet, you can do better than that.
Chet on 11/6/2003 8:44:12 PM said:
7 is good enough. and ur lucky you got that out of me. i figured out that the annoyance didnt make the ride bad. it ade the ride worse than it should be. it was relaxing and the drop was insane. the singing stunk, though, and i wish i could kill those stinkin birds. LOL
vbarbieri on 11/7/2003 1:09:09 AM said:
7 is a fair rating for a ride you didnt enjoy GOOD JOB
cordovad6 on 11/7/2003 7:21:24 AM said:
7 is actually a good raing, it means it is not perfect, but with a few adjustments, it will make it there.
Danny on 11/7/2003 3:21:40 PM said:
Wow, I cant believe what just happened here. Chet, if you really thought the ride deserved a 3, you shouldve kept it as a three, no matter what anybody else says.
tacoking on 11/8/2003 10:22:33 AM said:
A 7 is decent. I was talking about the review itself. You could have added a little more about the ride.
Chet on 11/8/2003 7:13:50 PM said:
well, i did that to get everyopne off my back
Danny on 11/8/2003 8:32:37 PM said:
You shouldnt have to. The people on this site shouldnt be so annoying!
Chet on 11/8/2003 10:37:04 PM said:
i know... what could you do, though. theyre like wolves. if theres an albino one in the pack, they kill it just because theyre different.
tacoking on 11/9/2003 8:02:19 PM said:
How is the themeing not that great on SM?
Chet on 11/9/2003 8:13:15 PM said:
cause they have a bunch of singing animals!
tacoking on 11/9/2003 8:24:15 PM said:
Overall what did you think of MK?
Chet on 11/9/2003 10:23:07 PM said:
i thought it was a great park. The scenery was great and the rides were great (considering i was only 5). I got mickey mouses autograph! My fat uncle broke Dumbo:the flying elephant, because when my mom and i went on it, none of the chairs went up! :lol2: overall, it was a great park.
cordovad6 on 11/10/2003 7:24:36 AM said:
LOL, but not everyone in the site is annoying, though, so dont be saying that everyone is, and by the way, some of the theming is like brickety on the ride.
Danny on 11/10/2003 3:00:16 PM said:
The theming on Splash Mountain is excellent - you cant say that they didnt do a good job with it. Chet just didnt like the storyline, which I can easily understand. MK is one of my top 5 parks, and is an amazing park.
Chet on 11/10/2003 4:19:24 PM said:
cordovad, i know not everyoen is annoying on this site, but there are a select few that are.
tacoking on 11/10/2003 5:18:59 PM said:
I agree with with drev, and chet, i will always be one of those people.
Chet on 11/10/2003 6:08:10 PM said:
well... maybe someday
disneyman on 11/10/2003 8:47:44 PM said:
If you were looking for a better ride, you probably shouldnt have gone looking in the Magic Kingdom, or anywhere Disney has a park for that matter. This is pretty much as good as it gets in a disney park, though I still like the ride. I agree with drev, too, although Disneyland in California is better, I think.
cordovad6 on 11/11/2003 5:06:31 PM said:
i never said i didnt like the ride, i think it is awesome, but i think it is time for A bit of an update on the animatronics, and again, i am not saying i dont like the rides, i think it rocks.
disneyman on 11/11/2003 9:51:09 PM said:
I was talking about Chet.
Chet on 11/11/2003 9:52:08 PM said:
well... i though a seven was in between perfect and average. its not all that bad, is it?
disneyman on 11/12/2003 10:30:22 AM said:
No, a seven isnt that bad. I just rate rides differently, I guess. I was talking aout the comment you made, though. If you want a shorter ride and a higher drop, though, the one in Disneyland is much shorter and seems more exciting.
tacoking on 11/12/2003 4:05:48 PM said:
Have you been on the one here?(florida)
disneyman on 11/12/2003 6:45:34 PM said:
Yeah, I went last winter. To me, the animatronics were better than the one in California, but the drop wasnt as fun.
Chet on 11/12/2003 7:42:03 PM said:
vbarberi said:7 is a fair rating for a ride you didnt enjoy GOOD JOB
so you dont care if i hated this ride or not? just as long as i give it a good, false rating everyone would stop hitting me with insults. good lord. what is this site coming to!
tacoking on 11/12/2003 9:39:30 PM said:
We arent even talking about your review anymore, lol.

How much shorter is calis version?
disneyman on 11/13/2003 10:49:53 AM said:
I dont know how much shorter it is, but it seems about a minute or two shorter.
cordovad6 on 11/13/2003 11:28:26 AM said:
they are not the same?
tacoking on 11/13/2003 5:18:15 PM said:
Nope. Calis was built first. Disney brought the idea to Florida but made it longer and the drop is smaller.
Danny on 11/13/2003 6:26:36 PM said:
I watched a video of Splash Mountain at Disneyland online. The two flumes are WAY different. Actually, the one in Disneyland looks better than the one in Florida.
tacoking on 11/13/2003 7:17:59 PM said:
Id like to take a trip to DL to see how good it is to MK.
Chet on 11/13/2003 7:39:18 PM said:
same here. i wanna go back to MK. i wasnt there for 8 years... DL looks pretty good also, but IMHO, i think MK looks better
Danny on 11/13/2003 8:33:14 PM said:
Well, DL has Matterhorn and Indiana Jones, plus all of those great dark rides in Fantasyland. Still, I like the way the WDW MK is spread out better. If only MK had Tower of Terror, it would probably be the perfect theme park
disneyman on 11/13/2003 10:03:27 PM said:
The only problem with disney adding a Tower of Terror to MK is that they already have one ate Disney-MGM Studios. Also, it wouldnt fit any of the themes. And as for MK being better, I think that Disneyland California is better, but the two resorts are equal. And since I just went to Disneyworld last December, the only reason that I would go back this soon would be to go to MGM Studios and the World Showcase again. Theyre both great resorts, though.
cordovad6 on 11/14/2003 7:23:56 AM said:
where did u see the splach mountain video ol?
Danny on 11/14/2003 3:07:02 PM said:
What I mean by teh ToT thing is that ToT is the only other REALLY good WDW ride that isnt at the Magic Kingdom. I could probably do without the other four parks if MK had ToT. Thats just a thought I had once... Cordovad: I believe the video was at "The Disneyland Source" website.
disneyman on 11/14/2003 9:07:23 PM said:
You can also go to
http://disneyland.disney.go.com
and they have videos for every ride in the resort that is supposed to be open. Oh, and tacoking, I forgot to add that, in Disneyland, there are five rows to the boats and only one seat per row.
cordovad6 on 11/17/2003 11:15:10 AM said:
well, MGM has Rock and rolller coaster and the great movie ride, which is a classic, Animal kingdom has Dinosaur which is alright and Expedition : Everest looks good, and Epcot has Mission Space, Test Track Space ship earth, a classic, and in my opinion the best fire work show illuminations. And thanks for the
sites.
tacoking on 11/17/2003 7:28:02 PM said:
Illuminations is the best fire work show.
disneyman on 11/17/2003 8:14:45 PM said:
I agree, though I like the show in DL.
cordovad6 on 11/17/2003 8:47:11 PM said:
they have illuminatoins in disney land? i thought it was fantasmic.
disneyman on 11/18/2003 10:55:01 AM said:
I just meant that they have a fireworks show in disneyland, not illuminations. They have fantasmic in disneyland.
tacoking on 11/18/2003 4:28:04 PM said:
Arent they changing Fantasmic to something else at MK?
disneyman on 11/18/2003 11:38:50 PM said:
I didnt know that they were changing anything there. As far as I know, they arent changing anything at DL except for TM and Space Mountain.
cordovad6 on 11/19/2003 7:22:57 AM said:
Space mountain? what are they doind there?
Danny on 11/19/2003 3:29:15 PM said:
Theyre replacing the track and adding a more sophisticated theme and some more special effects. Theyre also opening Buzz, disneyman. Tacoking, what are you talking about?
tacoking on 11/19/2003 4:04:09 PM said:
cord where have you been? That as mentioned last month?

Drev, I heard on a couple news sites that they were chaning the MK firework show, Fantasmic, to a new firework show?

I look it up and get back to you.
Danny on 11/19/2003 4:20:18 PM said:
Isnt Fantasmic the show at Disney-MGM Studios? Anyway, I also heard that they are changing the current fireworks show at MK to a new show. (I think the name is Wishes or something)
tacoking on 11/19/2003 4:24:37 PM said:
Oh yea I meant, what is it, Fantasy something?
cordovad6 on 11/19/2003 7:27:04 PM said:
Yeah danny, it is called wishes, but i mostly focus on Orland parks, but i like Calis also, but i havent had the chance to visit there
disneyman on 11/19/2003 9:41:53 PM said:
I like both parks, though I think I like DL more than MK. Also, Danny, there are many things that are the same between the Disneyland Resort in Cali and Disney World in Florida.
cordovad6 on 11/20/2003 11:20:12 AM said:
they many of the rides over there that they mhave over here, it is ust that they are different
Danny on 11/20/2003 3:59:20 PM said:
I know disneyman. I looked into that a couple of days ago and found that there really are a ton of similarities between the two resorts.
tacoking on 11/20/2003 5:18:43 PM said:
Except here theres 3 parks that they dont have.
Danny on 11/20/2003 9:02:31 PM said:
They dont have the room. Unfortunately, that means that they are just cramming all of the good WDW attractions into those two parks. (ex: bugs life movie, ToT, muppets, wwtbam, hista, innoventions) Something needs to be done about DCA...just check out that MiceAge site...
disneyman on 11/21/2003 12:33:16 AM said:
I like DCA, but it needs one or two more attractions. Its a good thing theyre getting ToT.
tacoking on 11/21/2003 9:20:24 AM said:
Yup, ToT is a fantastic ride.
disneyman on 11/21/2003 10:42:34 AM said:
I havent been on ToT since the last time I was at DCA, it was still under construction, but Ive been hearing that it is a great ride.
Danny on 11/21/2003 3:03:15 PM said:
The ToT in FL is absolutely amazing, my #1 non-coaster ride. Sadly, I read somewhere that the DCA version will not have the horizontal room and wont be as well themed. Hopefully that is just a rumor.
disneyman on 11/21/2003 5:52:03 PM said:
Hopefully youre right. What is the horizontal room, anyway?
Danny on 11/21/2003 6:13:03 PM said:
The elevator actually moves forward on a track out of the elevator shaft and into another one about 30 feet away. Seeing the light from the 2nd shafts doors opening up is priceless.
disneyman on 11/21/2003 7:14:21 PM said:
Well, I hope they make the one in DCA have that, too.
cordovad6 on 11/21/2003 9:00:44 PM said:
lol, yeah that door opening part is awesome and confusing, hopefully also, they will put the random program they have over here, and tower of terror wouldnt be the unique ride it is if it didnt have the horizontal room, but as sad as i am to say this, the Cali one wont have it, all the sites i checked said the same. The best tot site would be Tower-of-terror.com. This site confirms the rumor.
disneyman on 11/22/2003 11:18:49 AM said:
Well, thats too bad, but I hope it will still be a good ride.
tacoking on 11/22/2003 4:07:45 PM said:
You wont be disappointed.
disneyman on 11/22/2003 5:38:34 PM said:
Yeah, I cant wait to go on it the next time Im there.
cordovad6 on 11/24/2003 11:18:26 AM said:
the only reason why i pretty much visit the park is for that ride.
disneyman on 11/24/2003 8:38:43 PM said:
You like it better than RRC (not that Ive been on it)?
cordovad6 on 11/25/2003 11:23:13 AM said:
Tower of terror? Always Will!! This is an extremely awesome ride, i mean RRC is alright, but The Hulk beats it by a long shot and it is the same "blast off" concept.
disneyman on 11/25/2003 8:38:24 PM said:
I was just wondering. Ive been hearing some pretty good things about both rides. Its too bad for me that I wont be able to go on RRC for a very long while, since I live in California.
cordovad6 on 11/28/2003 8:16:51 PM said:
RRC is fine, but it is a little too short, it starts out awesome, then it slows down, last time i went i didnt even ride it. Its takeable i guess.
disneyman on 2/12/2004 8:06:52 PM said:
Oh, well. I cant wait to go on the ToT that theyre making in California, though.
cordovad6 on 2/13/2004 7:20:42 AM said:
me neither
disneyman on 2/13/2004 6:40:55 PM said:
I hope it will be as good as the one in Florida, but if it isnt, itll still be a big improvement to the park.

cordovad6 on 2/24/2004 12:52:28 PM said:
really? i heard it was opening on spring. i just hope they dont do what they did with TOT in Cali over here with the Soarin thing.
disneyman on 2/24/2004 10:44:01 PM said:
Well, there were signs for it last summer when I went there, so I am assuming that it is open.
Danny on 2/25/2004 5:29:53 PM said:
Pooh opened in Critter Country in Disneyland last spring. (I think) Ive read that ToT is disappointingly short.

Yeah, I read that, too.
cordovad6 on 2/27/2004 7:26:16 AM said:
oh well
but the one over here is awesome, if yo havent done it, you have to
disneyman on 2/27/2004 7:10:08 PM said:
I went on it when I went to MK last winter. It was okay, better than most.
cordovad6 on 3/1/2004 12:51:39 PM said:
Whoever said TOT is short is seriously efd up, i mean that ride is awesome and it is way much longer than pretty much every other freefall in existence on this small world. I mean think about it, every free faller just goes up and down, this one goes up, down, left, right, tops, shows happen, forward and more so whoever said that has no iddea about what they are talknig about.
Danny on 3/1/2004 3:51:36 PM said:
Oops...I meant that the new ToT at DCA is supposed to be very short. ToT in Florida is my favorite non-coaster ride ever.
disneyman on 3/1/2004 7:50:18 PM said:
Actually, Eisner said that the one in DCA is "too short."

bout that one i dont really know
