Review of Trolley @ Lake Compounce
-1 Rating Posted by: praxis on 8/17/2003 5:59:00 PM
Oh please. Theres only 2 good things about it: no lines + over quickly. A not particularly pretty trolley takes you a little ways to a different part of the park - a trip you could make just as quickly (and with just as nice a view of the lake) by foot. And if youre unlucky enough to ride in the evening, as I was, you get tons of bugs smacking into you. Dont bother with this one.

All right, I grant you all those 9s and 10s were a little generous, but a "2"?

Seriously, theres just no advantage to riding this over walking - plus theres the bug-on-a-windshield (except your face is the windshield)when I went on it ~ twilight.

There is no need to ride this at that time of night since there is nothing worth riding on that end of the park that lake at night. Rate the ride for the ride. You cant control nature.

Au contraire - the rapids ride was indeed open. The ride? A brief, straight line with nothing to see that those on foot didnt see, too. The trolleys themselves? Ugly.

How many trolleys have you seen? It’s the original trolley with the traditional colors. Yes the line is straight and the only thing to see is the same view as the walkers, except with an unobstructed view. Also most parks do not have a trolley so this is something deferent.

I figure that anyone who thinks vintage trolleys like the one at LC are ugly just plain needs help. I fear for historic preservation in this country...

Get a grip. It may be old and have a distinguished history... but so does the dust under my refrigerator. That doesnt make it pretty, nor does it make it a good ride.

Like I said, kid, folks like you make me fear for Americas historic preservation...

I respect your opinion although I disagree. Like you said, you can always walk if you prefer. You do have that choice. It does seem easier, but for those who would like a chance to ride on a trolley, this suffices.

Enginers didnt spand time designing and constructing you dust beneath your fridg. Theresi a big deferance. If you refer to walk then walk but at times its nice to get off your feet. and this Trolly is a hell of allot more comfertable then the train ride.
