 Review of Claw @ Hersheypark

I was a bit sad to see the Cyclops go, but the Claw is really great. It is pure fun, plus you get the added bonus of seeing the expressions on other peoples faces.

Beware the restraints on the Claw. Granted, I could stand to shed a few pounds, but I fit comfortably into every coaster or flat ride that I have ridden... I dont even need the "big boy" seats on B&M inverted coasters... the regular seats and their OTSRs fit just fine thanks. HOWEVER... the claw is a different story. The OTSRs are not "contoured" to fit over a persons body, rather they are straight. The problem is because they are straight, they often hit a persons shoulders and chest and will not close. That is what happened to at least 4 people I saw in three ride cycles and eventually happened to me.
Last year I rode a portable model (Reithoffer Shows Wild Claw at the York Fair (york PA)) and had to be wedged and stapled very badly to get it to lock. (must have gained a little weight over the winter). Tall people or people with broad shoulders will have a problem with this ride.

To answer Big Red, I think I waited about 20 minutes or so, it wasnt too bad.

I like the one at the York Fair as well. Just wondering SLFAKE and Pheonix, if you passed the school campus thats 1 or 2 blocks from the Fair, thats my high school =O

Last week I visited Martins Fantasy Island. They have a ride by Zamperla very similar to the Claw and Wild Claw. The main difference... the OTSRs. The ones on the Zamperla version are contoured to fit the body... not straight as on Claw and Wild Claw. Not only did the OTSRs on this Zamperla ride close for me... they closed very comfrotably... I even had a little room to fly off of my seat.
