Review of Kraken @ Sea-World Florida
0 Rating Posted by: LaffnStock on 3/22/2003 7:02:00 PM
A good coaster, but we have TWO almost exactly like it here in CA. I think Orlando coasters need to be more innovative, like the Hulk or Dueling Dragons.

Can you explain to me how you have two almost exactly like it. their is only Floorless operating and Scream in under construction. I admit their the same hight but after that their nothing alike. Kraken 4177 Medusa Clone 3937.

Just because they share almost the same elements doesnt mean the coaster deserves a lower rating. Krakens an awesome, smooth ride and I still rate it highly even though it is somewhat like Medusa.

Other then the inversion elements they are nothing alike. Kraken is 240 ft longer and has Three subterranean dives and most of it is built over water. Medusa and the upcomign Scream are built on pavment.
tacoking on 3/23/2003 3:22:49 PM said:
the pavement-water thing is not that big of a difference though
mrceagle on 3/23/2003 3:35:53 PM said:
how can you say that. yes the water was theri . but what would you rather see below a coaster water, grass, landscaping. or to see that they were to cheap and layse to remove the pavment.

well when im on this kind of coaster i nevre look at the theming, im focusing on the ride.

I guess this is only opinion then...

Themeing, landscaping, adn look are a very important part to the ride. you can have a fantastic ride but a terable look. it may destract peaple from the park of make the park look cheap. on the other hand a coster with a good look may draw peaple as much as the ride. it also makes peaple think that the park likes the ride and takes raek of the ride and the park.
tacoking on 3/24/2003 4:09:47 PM said:
i never said there not important. i wouldnt really care, for a ride like kraken, if there was no theming, i would still rate it the same. becase its the ride that matters
mrceagle on 3/24/2003 11:01:01 PM said:
true. but if your goign to call yourself a themepark you need to have themeing.
Sephiroth7 on 3/25/2003 10:43:33 AM said:
Although I do enjoy theming on coasters, in order for it to work you need the PARK to be themed as well. Kraken is a great ride, but theming does very little in the enjoyment of the ride itself. I didnt even notice I was over water. The only thing I noticed was the cool mist filled tunnel at the end. When youre on a B+M you hardly notice your surroundings. If I was over hot lava I probably wouldnt even notice. The fact that this ride has "some" theming and others like it do not have themeing make no difference to me when Im riding. To me, the track design is the important factor. Krakens straight drop boots Medusas curved drop in the behind and that is what Ill remember the week after I ride...

what if its just a amusment park, not a theme park. you dont HAVE to have themeing for a ride. i know it helps a ride, but it dont make that much of a difference. a few trees here and a tree here is not that big of deal.
mrceagle on 3/25/2003 9:16:45 PM said:
true but if the gcosster has open space that cant contain a ride. then they should pland trees. if its just a dirt plaot with some dead grass hear and their I look at it badly. if they cant take care of a simpel piece of land and plant som grass and maybe a tree or to. how much are they taking care of the ride. good landscaping dose make it a better ride and use of trees. what would Excalibur, Legand, beast, etc be if they had cleared al the land. look at the Corckscres at BGT they packed the ride with trees and shrubs. if it was an empty feild it wouldnt be as good.
tacoking on 3/26/2003 3:58:26 PM said:
grass, whoopi. no one cares about grass. no one. and whats corckscres????? id like to know.
bb_dg on 3/26/2003 4:23:46 PM said:
stop being a jackass, grass and other landscaping has alot to do presentation and how enjoyable a ride is. he is talking about the coaster "corkscrew" at BGT and hes right about that
tacoking on 3/26/2003 4:36:28 PM said:
anyways. grass is nothing. yes trees and other good theming is impostant, i never said it wasnt. i would enjoy a well themed coaster. but if the not thememd coaster is better, then screw the thememd coaster.
mrceagle on 3/26/2003 5:38:05 PM said:
The thing is what looks better a dirt lot with a coaster on it or at least grass? every thing past that is even better.
tacoking on 3/26/2003 5:55:40 PM said:
heck, i and many other people wouldnt care wether it was dirt or grass.
mrceagle on 3/26/2003 10:09:21 PM said:
well you and many other peaple have not tast. if all you care abotu is the ride youre lookign at is verry narrowmindedly.
tacoking on 3/27/2003 3:53:29 PM said:
why the heck do u say that??? i never once sadi themeing isnt part of a ride. this is stupid, you have no clue what im talkin about, and what i mean. im done here.
mrceagle on 3/27/2003 4:38:24 PM said:
your sais:heck, i and many other people wouldnt care wether it was dirt or grass.
this to me sounds like you dont scar or apreciate much. to me thats a bit nerowminded. maybe you not exacly this was but by this statment it sounds that way.
tacoking on 3/27/2003 5:39:41 PM said:
yea, thats dirt and grass. you read as bad as you spell. i said grass or dirt. i would much enjoy a ride that has trees everywhere more than a dirt lot. but if there is a coaster in a parking lot better than a highly themed coaster with tunnels and trees, then ill go for the parking lot coaster
mrceagle on 3/27/2003 8:44:54 PM said:
you in no way se a ride built on a parkign lot or on a dirt plot and think it looks a littel cheap?
tacoking on 3/28/2003 3:47:11 PM said:
just becasue its in a parking lot doesnt mean the ride is cheap
mrceagle on 3/28/2003 5:06:51 PM said:
The ride may not but it dos put that inpresio across. that is what im trying to say.
Sephiroth7 on 3/29/2003 12:52:12 PM said:
I hate Goliath at SFMM, but love Nitro at SFGA. Lets say Goliath had equivalent theming to The Hulk at IOA, I would still pick Nitro since it is a better ride. A great example...."X"....that ride has ZERO theming and it is the best coaster Ive ever been on...theming wouldnt help it at all...
tacoking on 3/29/2003 10:24:57 PM said:
thank you very much seph......good to see someone backs me up
