Review of Space Mountain @ Magic Kingdom

I think that it is kind of boring, i mean dont get me wrong the fact that it is in the dark makes it fun because you can not see anything, but i dont know, it is a little to slow, plus getting on Rock n Roller coaster proved to me that Disney can do better. The structural design on the other hand is awesome, therefore i give it a 7.5

But what youneed to keep in ind is that their is alot of time betwen Space Mountain and Rockn roller. comparing them is like comparing the first home computers to one of the new Super computers.

That is true, but, cant they update it? I mean i didnt say it was bad, i like it, it is kind of fun, but i prefer the bigger thrills.

They can replace the track. it would likly shorten it. slightly beter efects. and a good sound track. I am against the replace it with a launch coaster Idea that so many peaple bring up.

Space Mountain was built in 1975. Rock-n-Roller Coaster was built in 1999.

Space Mountain really jerks you around...I like that.

First of all, I think the majority of Rock N Roller Coaster was actually slower than Space Mountain cuz theres a huge trim after that half loop. You can really feel it! Secondly, if Space Mountain was bulit in the 90s yes it would be better, but it wasnt.

is this the space mountain in florida, or cali???? if its the florida one, it doesent jerk u that much. and i think RRC is faster than space mountain most of the ride.

yea, i enjoyed it very much

actually Space Mountain is slower than you think...it is the darkness and the high-speed turns that makes it seem fast...it only goes about 50 mph, RRC i know goes at least 60.

50? I thought Space Mt (fun though it certainly is) goes way slower than that. Isnt it more like 30?

Its top speed is 28 mph. I think Space Mountain is better than RRC. You have more of an out of control feeling on SM.
thechad on 8/1/2003 7:26:20 PM said:
yea i knew it was low...just didnt know how low. But i just found out from a guy I talked to at Disneyland that SM will be shut down till 05 but he said the new cars have OTSRs. I thought he was lying until a "imagineer" had told me it will be shut down till 05 (he never said anything about OTSR though.)
cordovad6 on 9/22/2003 7:40:59 PM said:
two thing though, first is what is OTSR? second, i like space mountain a lot, and i take back anything bad i said, i just rhode it again, but i like rrc a lot too. Obviously, space mountain is an enourmous advancement for its time, but, rrc adds a little more thrill, they are both awesome in theyre own special way.

OTSR stands for over the shoulder restraints

Thanks, though that would kind of take away from the experience. At lest in my opinion.

I agree, it is a little slow, like most of Disneys rides, but I think that the fact that it is all in the dark and you cant see where you are going makes up for that.
