What ride defines amazing? Spiderman. Hell, the word is even in the full name: Amazing Adventures of Spiderman. I was just totally blown away by this ride at the time of my first ride, second ride, third ride...wait a minute, I still am even as I cross the 200 ride mark.
After walking through the greatly themed queue line, you enter the boarding platform and take your seat on these vehicles called scoops. You are supposedly a reporter sent out to get some interesting story. As you turn around the first corner you see the Spider Signal cast upon the wall in front of you, even though Spiderman doesnt really have a signal like Batman. You immediately go to try to find the trouble, and it doesnt take long to find it. You first run into Spiderman as he is on his way to stop his villains, and he warns you on how this could be the most dangerous night of your lives (and his!). From then on its one long great action filled story. Many different special effects are used in the ride, including fire and large objects being hurled off the ground as the villains attempt to seize you. Spiderman also uses the 3D in great ways. In the beginning it simulates Spiderman jumping on your scoop, and later on bricks are flying your way as one of Spidermans enemies break through a brick wall - and there are many more uses for it, including a huge simulated drop at the end, which has you falling from one of the tallest buildings in New York City. After an intense battle, where you join in on the action and fight to save your life, Spiderman is victorious and you make it back to the home base in one piece. The level of detail in the ride is amazing, and it should take you a few rides to notice most of all the little things Universal has put on the ride. Even as you exit the theming is getting pumped out in full force, which is noticeable by the office located above the exit - you know, the guy that is waving his arms up in the screens above?
Anyways, a tremendous ride that is simply the best non-coaster ride ever created. Comes very close to being the best ride period, but not quite.
