Review of Volcano, The Blast Coaster @ Kings Dominion

We did get to Volcano and rode twice. Intamin has really distinguished itself, again, with this ride. It is an inverted coaster with a DOUBLE LIM launch. straight out of the top of a Volcano. The ride then continues through a series of heartline rolls as it spirals around the volcano.

re-reviewed (4/17/03) The double LIM launch does not disappoint and sends this ride barreling out of the station. The speed is exhilarating. I liked the fact that Intamin stuck with heartline rolls and didnt employ any loops in the ride, making it unique amongst inverted coasters. The speed going into the brake run is tremendous and makes you wonder why the ride wasnt extended another 1,000 feet.

Volcano has 4 inversions: a sidewinder and 3 heartline rolls. Heartline rolls are considered to be inversions.

Didnt realize that. Im always looking at loops. I guess Ive found an inversion I actually like - heart line rolls. Im not a big fan of loops these days... Just personal taste...

lol, try and ride either a ride with high-g loops (any Schwarzkopf) or a ride with a lot of hangtime during the loop, and you might change your mind.

I dont really like OTSR and I think that I might be getting too old for all those gs. Just not a pleasurable experience these days. I do them strictly for track record....
