Review of Rolling Thunder @ Six Flags Great Adventure
0 Rating Posted by: odjob088 on 11/26/2002 10:17:00 PM
this ride is ok, its not a good woodie, its really bumpy and a head banger , gives u a little headache, they never run both sides, so i never saw it race, thats what i think stinks about this coaster, if they had both sides open, maybe this ride would get a higher rating

I cant see why they keep this coaster. six flags isnt going to invest the mony to update the ride. and they cold fit two very well designed woodeis in it splace of one Hper woodie.

Huh??? This is not a hyper woodie. I actually think the design of this coaster is excellent, it is just dissappointing that they do not properly mantain the ride. It is at least getting a coat of paint this year.

yeah, now all we need is some retracking and a new lift to get that right side going.

Personally, I would hate to see a hyper woodie replace RT. In my opinion, SoB, currently the only hyper woodie, is one of the worst coasters I have been on, and my hope would be that SFGAdv would not make the mistake of removing what could be a great ride with some repairs for a type of coaster that really is not generally liked and has proven to be a mantiance nightmare (retracked three times since 2000).

Mybe that wasnt the best sugestion. but RT is to be honist a very plain ride. their isnt much to is and even if it were totaly rehabed and they raced it agen. it still wouldnt be a top cpaster. at most, it may become somthing to remove lines from Nirto and Medusa.

It would never be a top coaster there, but re-tracked and that coaster would turn into an airtime monster. Imagine smoothly flying over all those bunny hops, and all while racing too. It would be great. They should also switch the queue lines, making you enter in the middle, and exit to the sides, so you could easily race your friends. Like that would ever happen, though it would be easy to do.

The Yankie cannonball in faster with the retracking but even in its worst conditon it never ran as slowly and porly as RT. Even retracking the coaster it would ony get back to its origanal 56mph. for a 96 ft coster this isnt an impresive speed. an only a new dop to the lift will can change that.

This may be all do to th efact that i rode this coaster in is presint deplorable conditoin. maybe if i had a chance to ride it when it was good I maght think defrently.

Speed is not everything. Phoenix has a top speed of only 45 MPH, and that is an airtime monster. RT has a design that would indicate the same thing, but it tracks so poorly you dont get it. I was fortunate to ride it many years ago when it did race, and it was much better. It can be that again, it just needs some TLC.

six flags isnt a TLC type cmpany. so I wouldnt get my hops up. until too many peaple complain about pain on the ride they wont do anything.
