Review of Phantoms Revenge @ Kennywood
4 Rating Posted by: Raptor on 7/1/2002 8:02:00 PM
Like other people have mentioned, the best parts of Phantoms Revenge were the best parts of Steel Phantom. The second drop is awesome, but it alone isnt enough for me. The next two turns deliver strong g forces. Its awesome up to that point. Unfortunately, the ride is already almost over, and all thats left is a few small bunny hops that give the short, bad kind of air time (where youre pulled out of your seat and slam back down hardly a half second later). A good hyper needs lots of air time and lots of hills. Phantoms Revenge doesnt have either, and thats why its my least favorite hyper.

Well, Raptor, I do agree that the ride is kind of short, but you need to understand that unlike your home park (I assume by your name that it is Cedar Point), Kennywood does not have a huge plot of land to continually build on! Considering the space it has, I think this ride really works well. Cedar Point seems like it is awesome (Im going there myself in 2 weeks and cant wait....any tips??), but you cant make straight comparisons versus a traditional park like Kennywood. Personally, I like the airtime PR gives, but I guess you have to like ejector air time. Sorry to say, but I wager PR beats many other hypers (like Magnum) any day! A good, honest review though, which I liked to see.

Dont get me wrong, I did enjoy Phantoms Revenge, and I do like ejector air, but I would have liked a longer ride and more air. I know theres not much Kennywood can do, though, with their limited space. My favorite kind of hyper is out and back, which is why I like Magnum and Apollos Chariot a lot. BTW, Six Flags Great America is my home park.
