Review of Corkscrew Hill @ Busch Gardens Williamsburg

They call this a 4-D simulator. I suppose because it is motion, sight, sound, and 3-D (through the use of glasses). Anyway, a fun "ride". As stated in another post... riding a horse, put over a boiling culdron, falling off a cliff, and even having one of your fellow riders being snatched up by a troll with out leaving the safety of your seat? The 3-D effects are there but are not overdone and they work. Also, throw in some humor and a very ominious looking queue line (deep in side of a mine or cavw with torches), and you have one good ride. Easily better than the other simulators at Busch parks on the east coast (Wild Arcic at SWF and Ackbars Adventure Tours at BGT)

true true. but you forgot one thing; that queue line has been there since the first motion simulator picture in there, "Quest Star". Another film to be shown (which made people truly miss "Quest Star" because this next one was horrible) was "A Knight in King Arthurs Court" (er...I think that was the name). Anyway, nice to see someone else has been on this ride. ^_^

Okay... well, I this was my first visit to BGW since the mid 1970s... so I wasnt aware what was in there. I thought that the Ireland section and Corkscrewhill were new last year? Or was what is now Ireland originally part of somethign else?

Ireland used to be Hastings/England and was built in the 80s (i know it was before the 1984 season). skyedream7 the "Quest Star" simulator was soo much fun. Do u remember the water fall part? SLFAKE i was wondering since u said your last visit to BGW was in the 70s do u remember there 2 old coasters called Glissade and Der Wilde Catze?

I remember Glissade and Wild Katz vaguely. Glissade (a Jumbo Jet I believe) was the first "big" (i.e. Non Kiddie) coaster that I was ever on... and a few minutes after that Wild Katz was the second.

The ride that I remember most from my first visit to BGW was the Catapult. It was an indoor scrambler that was themed to look like a catapult in side of a castle. Its lights and things really added a neat feature to the ride. I believe it was located somewhere in the English section. Todays Katapult is a standard scrambler (no theming, out doors) in the Oktoberfest area.

so it used to be indoors.

I dont know if it is the exact same scrambler, but yes, back in 197? (the year before Loch Ness Monster was installed) the scrambler at Busch Gardens: The Old Country (as it was called then) was indoors and was called "Catapult". Like I said, I believe it was located in the England section, but I could be wrong... perhaps it was in Oktoberfest where todays Katapult (Scrambler) is located.

Not really a comment on the review, but guys - its Questor NOT Quest Star. I promise you. And I believe they had Questor for some time at Busch Gardens Tampa as well.. I could swear I rode it there too around 96 or so..
