certainly can&#39.t get as high a score as Knoebel&#39.s, but very entertaining nonetheless. i too, like others on this board, am a baltimore native, so trimper&#39.s is almost a home park for me (if one can say this, only having been twice in the last 10 years). i was traumatized by this ride as a wee youngun, and i recall getting lots of judgmental stares on the boardwalk as i cried into my dad&#39.s waist. i guess that was about 30 (?) years ago. well i took a spin this past weekend, and it&#39.s pretty formidable in the genre and fans of kitsch and boardwalk junk culture need to add this to their go-to list. to begin things,the cars themselves are noteworthy - very unique chunky uncomfortable wooden affairs. the ride ushers forth numerous moments of dipping swooping &quot.kiddie-coaster&quot. action when the track guide disengages, and these are emphasized by the hard, &quot.2x4&quot. quality of the car interior. then comes the interior. my wife was unnerved by the ride, though she states this is mostly due to fear of the thing breaking down and us trying to find the fire exits in the dark and trying not to bump around with rubber zombies or guillotines in the process. this, i think, is a good way to look at it. IMO, it is important to get fear anyway you can in an amusement ride. in fact, fear of ride ride failure is pretty high up my list of *good* fears for a ride to have. it really IS a hoaky, shoddy sort of ride. the guided track is so creaky, and the ride itself so uneven and clunky, that one feels the tension simply from awkward discomfort of snagging on the tow chains or clicking over poor track transitions. there are some &quot.intentional&quot. trick tracks too, which are pretty darn fun. so... the gags are pretty goofy. what would someone expect? this isn&#39.t disney&#39.s haunted mansion, ocean city ain&#39.t orlando, and trimper&#39.s ain&#39.t busch. it&#39.s not as frantic or psychedelic as knoebel&#39.s. but there is a nice, long and convoluted track. there are a few purely dark passes and the water gag at the end definitely freaked out my wife. who know&#39.s what will happen with trimper&#39.s, and anyplace like it these days. this ride is a nice relic of a much sillier, kinda wacko era in amusements. this is a REAL DEAL old skool boardwalk dark ride.

Based on the rave reviews I was expecting a bit more, but the ride was still a plus. I enjoyed the Pirates Funhouse and the Arabian Funhouse a heck of a lot more, but this gets its fair share of credit. Its basically an old spooky ride, that was somewhat entertaining, yet somewhat boaring. As Larrygator said, a number of the stunts were not timed well. The effects were okay, but cannot rival the Pirate Funhouse. It got very good and loud towards the end, with some effects that certainly wouldnt be approved if the ride opened today (For example, the guy shaking as he was hung). I think it would have been more fun had we gotten soaked in the water that fell from the top wall at the end, however we stayed completely dry. Im not sure if that was a missed-timing or what. The ride is nice and long with 2 or three actual high speed drops it seems. Overall, the ride was good and filled with tradition, yet still was a bit dissapointing to me.

I was a little disappointed and expected a little more. I went on 3 classic haunted mansions this weekend (Rehoboth, Trimpers and Myrtle Beach Pavillion) and while this was good the others were much better.

A majority of the stunts were poorly timed and that was really distracting. One of the rooms with the best timed stunt was too well lit and you could see it coming as soon as you entered the room. A lot of rooms with just day-glo paint. Like I said I just expected more.

this ride also traumatized me as a child. for that reason, i will forever love it. knowing now that the creatures and beasties that pop out from nowhere arent going to follow me back to my hotel, i always go on the ride every summer. awesome dark house, one of the best in the country.

This was fun although it completely traumatized me as a child. I loved the tracking - the tilted angles added immensely to the general unease, and the couple of fast, unexpected jerky moments further enhanced the sense of doom in this old, creaky fire-trap (not really, just a feeling). There were some dead spots w/ effects that must have been no longer functioning, and the rooms that relied solely on fluorescent paint didnt quite work in the modern age. I miss the waterfall ending! But theres nothing like falling towards your sweetie in the dark on the tilted, seemingly unstable track or shoved up together on a sudden jolting turn. Back was a little sore from the lack of padding on the seats, but thats part of the fun, and Id hate to think how sticky & sweaty any padding would get in the heat of summer. Even the ticket taker was spooky in a demented biker kinda way. Update: Visited again Memorial Day 06, and nearly all the dead spaces removed, new yet old looking effects installed, and the waterfall kinda working, so up a point it goes! The ticket taker looked a little more kempt and less strange, but I guess everyone needs a hair cut now and then.

Old but spooky and fun Haunted house and you have to love those coffin cars.

Years ago (20 or so) I used to always have to ride the Haunted House when my family visited Ocean City. Today I rode it again for the first time in over two decades. Expanded a some years ago (Last time I rode it in the early 1980s it was only one story), it still contained some of the old stunts that I remembered. They still held their own compared to the newer ones. There were a few I cant remember if they were there before or not. I also dont recall the crazy angle of the floor and the leaning of the cars, though it could have always been that way. Also, the coffin styled cars (also not there back in the 1980s) were a nice touch. Only thing remaining from the old version that could have been taken away... the water fall ending... or at least if it was kept, at least it should have been working properly.

Okay, kids - heres a genuine treasure for you. It might not be for everyones taste in this modern-day, ultra realism world, but for all you history buffs, lovers of the kooky, and the kids at heart, this ones for you. The prime vintage facade draws you in with its wacky, bloodstained bat and great signage, and the ride-in coffins are great. Once inside (this is worth the wait, no matter how long), the old stunts are a thrill to behold, and nothing can prepare you for the bumpy, slanted (often disturbingly so) ride through this chamber of horrors. Bill Tracey touches are in abundance, and do their jobs admirably. There are moments that are genuinely disorienting, one which is just too good to mention here - youll have to check out the site papa1958 mentioned. In all, Trimpers offers a classic, wonderful dark ride that pulls out your inner child, and scares the bejeezus out of it. Primitive, yes - but right up there with Knoebels.

This one is a sentimental favorite for me. I grew up in Baltimore, so have been on this ride several times over the last 20-25 years. I think it holds up rather well. I like the two story layout and I think most of the gags are pretty good. Also, in this haunted house as in Rehoboth Beach, I love when the cars make a trip outside over the boardwalk. This ride just represents summer fun to me. **update- I just revisited this one and unfortunately, had to drop it a point. This ride still has some great stunts and has SO much potential. There is just too much dead space in there. The classic stunts could stay and there would still be plenty of room to add newer ones.**Newer update-theyve filled in the blanks! There are now several more stunts than there were in my last visit as well as some that were working that didnt last time. This HH is part of a disappearing breed-a must ride!

This is definitly one of the best traditional "haunted house" style dark rides. There are alot of cool scenes. Even though its extremely outdated, it certainly is a classic and deserves its spot as number 3 on my dark ride list. #1-Haunted Mansion(Disney World) #2-Haunted Mansion(Knoebels) #3-This Ride. If you ever go to Ocean City, be sure not to miss this boardwalk Classic!
