After riding so many other of these shooter rides, this one failed to stand out to me. The animatronics were weak. There seemed to be no story that really developed. The guns have no laser lights so it made it hard for me to tell if I hit the targets or not. I had to keep looking at my score to get an idea if anything had happened or not. This ride could be so much more.
This ride is boring but kids love it.
i love this ride but i suck at it
I was never able to get into this ride, even as a kid. I always thought it was boring. The only time I ride it now is if I have my nieces and nephews with me. They seem to love it. This is however a historic ride, because itis one of only 2 remaining "original" rides that was built for SDC from my understanding. Even though i find the ride boring, it is very well constructed and very well themed.
This is a nice, water-based darkride. From my understanding, the ride is themed after an old prison and the prisoners have escaped (something about the story may have been on some of the signs on the sheds in the queue but I did not read them). The boat-trains (about 5 or 6 boats linked together) float through the chute as you shoot at different scenes of the prisoners. When you shoot a target, some type of effect happens to let you know you hit it. Advice: Aim for the targets that are farther away from the boat as they are worth more. The boats also seem to have odd seating arrangements. Each individual boat in the train had 3 benches. The first was for two people, the second for one, and the third for two. I dont understand why they didnt have two for the second bench. Also when waiting in line, look in the window of the office before you get into the loading area (be sure to watch the picture on the wall).
I agree with beanbag that this ride (like a lot of the others) must be a locals thing. While I thought it was fun, it isnt worth a 10. It an about average dark ride/shoot out ride. It was fun shooting stuff though.
Quite possibly could be the Perfect Darkride. Well, of the mid-west that is. The “Shoot-Out in the Old Mine” is an SDC Classic I believe it was the 3rd fullscale attraction. Original just a boat ride thru a flooding prison mine, Point totaling guns were added and now as you travel thru the mine, you can accumulate points as things do all kinds of crazy things. The animatronics are old but the spirit still lives on. I still enjoy the ride after all these years. :trophy:
This was a great ride, you get to expirence all kinds of things and you can shoot at all the targets while seeing all kinds of funny and neat things. This ride rocks!
This is not a steel coaster, it`s a dark boat ride. It was in the 70`s when I was just a kid when I first experienced the flooded mine, now called shootout at the flooded mine. As a child it left quite an impact on me and I`m transformed back to my youth every time I ride it now as an adult. It initially kind of scared my 4 year old daughter but she later said she liked it. I liked this ride better before the guns were added, if you choose to shoot at the targets it takes your attention away from the wonderful construction and animation designed and built by Silver Dollar City in the 60`s. The sound effects as well as the miners voices haven`t changed since this rides inception. I wouldn`t want it any other way! It even has the same aroma inside I remember as a kid. A great looking ride inside and out (water inside and out - you enter across a bridge). An historic ride!
I didnt founding anything outstanding about this ride...must be a locals thing. It was actually boring to me. Fun for kids probably.
