The tallest coaster in the park should not be missed, and it is the world's only Hyper-Twister Coaster.

A great roller coaster! The initial drop was spectacular and you really feel the wind in your face. By far the best roller coaster in the park. Highly Recommended!

If there was an award for the most overrated coaster in Great America, this would be it. At an ominous 200 feet and a brisk 73 mph, you'd think fear would become the best of you and it'd get your heart racing. It won't. Instead, it's a decent ride that just so happens to be one of the best at the park, or even the best according to some. And I'm not saying this because the lines were prolonging, there was actually a decent wait, it just missed the punch I hope it packed. And also, people hype up the drop far too much. Some even say they blacked out. For me? I didn't get a lick of airtime. No airtime, no intimidation. It seemed high and steep, but it's nothing to stop the presses for. I have to say, I'm being a bit harsh on the ride. It certainly is a fun ride and something I'd ride on again, but the hype just got me so involved and the end result just didn't live up. However, with the limitations of rides in Great America, this is probably not a bad coaster. I'd say ride it once just for bragging rights.

One of the smoothest (yet exciting) rides ever built.

The Raging Bull is a hyper or non looping mega coaster. It was built by B&M in 1999. It is 202' tall, it is 5,057' long, it was fast,this ride was nicely themed, fun, rerideable, had a large capacity, and long ride duration. This is a must ride at the park and I loved the tunnel.

Nothing else at Six Flags Great America even comes close to Raging Bull. It's 202 foot lift hill punctures the skyline and gives it an intimidating presence. As soon as I got to the park, I rushed through a maze of paths (they suck at Great America) and finally found the entrance to This ride. Fotunately, it was still early in the day, so the line wasn't very long. So, waiting for the front row, I flipped a couple pennies on the generator by the station and watched a couple trains dispatch. The line couldn't go fast enough. I needed to ride. When I finally got in the train, I took a moment to analyze the little things on those B and M trains that make the ride so much better. Minimal restraints (not even a seatbelt!), no sides, and amazingly comfortable seats. B and M should be proud of these.

So by the time we got to the top of the lift hill, I was thinking about that first drop. The train started tipping over... here it comes! Nope, it's just a 5 foot kicker hill. Haha. So the train tips down again, and this time it's real. The first drop is great. They could have made the tunnel at the bottom longer though. Rising up on the first banked turn, I felt a sensation that Raging Bull definitely delivers on. Hang time. And I had the far right seat, so there was literally nothing between me and the ground far below on this turn. The train then falls to the ground and rises again to a camelback hill that has been destroyed by trim brakes. After that, there are to more turns with hangtime. The train then slides on to the brake run, which was being nice the day I rode.

After the MCBR, there is a bunny hop with good airtime and a forceless helix. Before the figure eight finale, there is another trim brake. Thankfully, that was turned off all three times I rode. The figure eight finale is really what makes the ride. It's all intense twisting extremely low to the ground, making it seem like you're going way faster than you really are.

Unfortunately, the train turns up onto the final brake run and you're ride is over. When I got off, I was on such a (roller coaster) high that all I could say for a couple minutes was 'yeah'. Depending on what you look for in a roller coaster, either the back row or the front row can be better. The front row provides great views and excellent hang time, while the back row provides a far more intense ride with better airtime. But wherever you sit, Raging Bull is a definitely worthy of getting into your top ten.

Raging Bull's a Bolliger & Mabillard hypercoaster from the same designers of the popular Nitro at Six Flags Great Adventure and Apollo's Chariot at Busch Gardens Europe. So I was excited when I arrived at Great America on a dreary day in 2006. Raging Bull has a more compact twister-style layout and I was curious how it matched up to the Nitro and Apollo's out-and-back design.

After boarding the ultra comfortable seats and pulling down the snug lapbars, the train departs and begins a long, slow 20-story climb. At the top, the track dips a little to pull the last cars off the lift hill, then Raging Bull unleashes a 208-foot drop at 65 degrees. The train reaches speeds over 70 mph and roars through a short underground tunnel at the bottom of the hill. It's a strong opening.Raging Bull - Six Flags Great America Next, the train soars up into a banked curve and then back down to the earth. The following hill is a perfectly executed camel back that offers the best airtime on the entire ride.

The next few turns and hills are fun, but nothing to write home about. Closer to ground now, the train enters the mid-course brake run. The train dives out the flat brake run with an immediate drop offering some good airtime. Another short drop follows that's equally as good and the ride sets up for its finale. The twisted, low to the ground finish is another one of Raging Bull's best moments. Most other hypercoasters spend the majority of their time in the clouds and it was refreshing to see the opposite, especially considering how fast Raging Bull is even towards the end.

Raging Bull doesn't quite reach the level of its sister coasters in New Jersey and Virginia, but itRoller Coaster Reviews comes close. The 200' drop into the tunnel, the speed, and the twisted finale are all strong points. The swooping turns early on were fun, but I prefer the airtime hills on similar coasters. That said, Raging Bull is top-notch and Chicagoans are lucky to have one of the four B&M hypers in the U.S. in nearby Gurnee. Final Rating - 8.0 (Great)

Absolutely one of the best rides I have ever been on. I love the setup for the seats, that allow you a freefalling feeling, and its pretty much just this lap-sized triangle that holds you in. The first drop into the tunnel is fantastic and the overall ride just rocks. I was lucky enough to be at the park once when ACE had exclusive ride times, and I think I rode this ten times in a row. I cannot recommend this ride enough, and I always suggest Six Flags to anyone visiting Chicagoland.

Driving along the highway next to the park you can see this monster of a coaster: Raging Bull. You watch the train full of screaming riders plunge down that incredibly steep drop into nothingness and then pop out into a turn. You think to yourself "I have to get on that thing!" Right when you enter the park you run to the right and enter Southwest Territory where the orange and purple coaster towers above you, the first drop in plain view. It seems more like 300 feet when you look above you. You run into the nice and shaded queue and wait with the other riders eagerly anticipating their ride. Running 3 trains, the line is always moving. As you enter the station I advise you to sit in the back, Ill tell you in a minute why. Sit down in the incredibly comfortable B&M seats and push down that lapbar into your lap. That is all thats saving you from flying off into the atmosphere. All is clear, and youre out. Over a smooth turn and up the 205 ft. hill. Take in the incredible view while you can, or shut your eyes if you dont like heights. Youre at the top! Raging Bull teases you with a small drop at first and then ROARS down the 200 ft. drop! In the back you get extreme ejector air and feel like youre going to fly off! You see the tunnel at the bottom getting closer, closer, youre in darkness for less then a second and youre out! Up into the turn and if youre on the right you will feel like you will fly off into the line of Viper below you. Down a drop and up a huge hill with a trim unfortunately. Killing any airtime you might have had, its still an exciting drop. After that is 2 more turns and up into the MCBR. You have time to catch your breath before you get pulled down into a bunnyhop where it takes your picture. Up and down another bunnyhop, and the rest are turns and helixes. Theres another trim around there somewhere which is unfortunate. Overall its an extremely fun ride with a short wait so there is no reason why you shouldnt ride it when youre at Six Flags Great America.
