Zeus. Was fine on the straight sections. Very smooth there, almost like a steel coaster. But the turnaround reminds you it is, in fact, a wooden coaster. And while I expect roughness on a wooden coaster, this was a bit much. That turnaround could use some re-tracking. The turnaround is the only thing from keeping Zeus from being a higher score.

Zeus is a wood sit down roller coaster. O&B. It was built by CCI and designed by Larry Bill/Dennis McNulty. It was built in 1997. It is 87' tall, it is 2,500' long. Riders are given a double circuit. It is fast, fun, rerideable, it has a large capacity, and a long duration.

I rode Zeus fewer times than the other coasters at Mt. Olympus on my recent trip to the park, mostly because it was closed the first day. Nonetheless, I was able to get a few circuits on, and was impressed by its speed and abundant airtime, especially in the back. I think this might have been the roughest coaster at the park in my experience, but it did not really detract from the experience. The turnaround is very forceful, and as noted before, both the “out” and “back” portions deliver great air in both the front and back.

I love wooden coasters, and I love CCI (RIP) wooden coasters, but this is probably one of my least favorite. The airtime was plentiful enough, but the overall ride experience was a let down. The track, as a whole, was rough and the trains were really beginning to show their age. With some better upkeep it would be a great ride, but as it was last season it is merely ok.

I forgot to write this in my review but it must be shared. As we are going on the second half of our ride we actually pass an employee spraying weeds on the walkway attached to the coaster. As the train came he just leaned up as close as he could get to the rail.APPEARANCE-8 Looks a little rough and definately appears older then it is but the layout at least looks like a real coaster. CAPACITY-6 One train, long course, no time though to check those restraints and youre off. When I read about someone dying here I wont even be shocked. The theming is greek myths. The Greeks invented democracy yet this place is pure anarchy. RIDE QUALITY-8 I had heard it was really rough. It had one bumpy stretch but overall it was pretty fun. FUN-8 I liked it and I hate this park so it must have been fun. RERIDE-7 If hell freezes over(or another great coaster like Hades is added) I will definately do this again. I rode Hades twice and the only thing I really regret is that I did not try this ride again. OVERALL-37 AVG-7.4 I will go 8 since I know if this ride was somewhere else it would score the 8. On a side note I am an easy going guy who isnt big on service or being stapled into coaster, however this is the least safe I have felt since my days going to the fair and this is the most unfriendly staff i have ever seen. Maybe I got like the worst day ever but for the admission price a park should really be better then this.

Zeus is like the crazy cousin that Boulder Dash always fears will show up at the family reunion but that it otherwise tries to forget exists. Dont make the same mistake. If it were a little longer and treated with a bit more TLC, Zeus would be a destination coaster in its own right. As it is, it is still worth the trip for those who pride themselves on finding the hidden gems, all the more so because it resides in the same park as the sublime Hades and the first-rate Cyclops. I found Zeus best enjoyed from the front seat, in which the airtime and speed were non-stop from station to brakes. The back seat offered less airtime, if anything, and was more physically demanding, although not unreasonably so. On an extremely hot July day, Zeus absolutely tore through the woods, skipping through the bunnyhops of the long straights that followed its hills and plunging into its diving curves with gusto. And all this with nary a trim break in sight. Some have commented on the rather lax attitude of the Mt. Olympus staff and the poor condition of its rides. If you demand the Reich-like efficiency and enforced cheeriness of the Walt Disney Corporation, then Mt. Olympuss more casual atmosphere may come as shock. For me, however, its homey feel was a welcome relief from the corporate lock-step. During my trip to the Dells, Zeus was adequately if not pristinely maintained. I considered it more dynamic than rough and attributed this to its design, not neglect. It was clearly not built to coddle, but it was in no way abusive. It does, however, have an edge that more finely-tuned terrain coasters such as Boulder Dash lack, and it offers no apologies for rocking your world. Overall, Zeus may be among the most underrated roller coasters. It more than pulls its weight in helping to make Wisconsin Dells a beacon to any wooden coaster enthusiast.

Great ride in the front(especially earlier in the day), very dissapointing in the back. In the front, its a smooth, fast, relaxing sprint through the woods. In the back, there is little airtime and it is very rough. Not a bad ride but not as good as Cyclops or Hades.

Times ridden: 1 ~ Ride experience: 6 ~ Layout: 8 ~ Thrill factor: medium->high ~ Airtime: high ~ Landscaping: 7 ~ Reride factor: low ~ Evaluation: Ouch! After reading and hearing so many good things about this ride, I was expecting a wild and crazy, fun-filled wooden coaster. What I got was a horrible out and back that aged poorly, and just plain sucked. Zeus, although it produced airtime on nearly every drop, was incredibly rough, which ruined the experience for me. With some retracking and rehab, Zeus could be considered a great coaster, but until then, its the complete opposite.

Nice job weaving in and out of the trees. The ride is short and the coaster practially hugs the natural contour of the ground at the bottom of the hills. The airtime and lats werent great but still a nice little coaster.

This is my favorite coaster of all time. I cant get enough of a woody with an out and back layout, and it has so much spped through out the whole ride, not just on the first drop. This is a must ride!
