decent, but boring, it could have been alot better.
I was surprised by this show. The only reason I rode it was because there was no wait and the doors were wide open. The show starts out with whoopi goldburg giving you a brief description of california history. This would normally be considered boring, but there were 2 statues in the theatre. Her face would jump from statue to statue providing an amusing way to start off the show. After that a film starts up showing california when indians roamed, through the gold rush, all the way up to present day. They show quite a bit about walt disney... but your in disneyland for goodness sakes! They seem to ignore the negative side of california history which brings down this rating. But its still a very good show. Even if you dont like these types of shows, its still a good way to cool down. The ending of this show was funny too. As the audience exits whoopi started shouting about someone losing their phone. It scared me and about a minute later a woman came in and grabbed her purse and her phone. Thanks whoopi
Excellent movie with a few added effects.
I cant see why everyone hates this ride. It was not pathetic at all. Its narrated by Whoopi Goldberg and though it has a Disney message as all soft and cuddly attractions at DCA do this attraction seemed the lest Disney of all the shows Disney has made.
I really like the Golden Dreams show. I find it be very enjoyable and actually quite informative and moving. Think of it as a warp speed course in California History 101. Of course Disney did have to tone down some of the more negative aspects of the history of the state, but they are by no means ignored completely. Some of the dialogue may be a bit on the corny side, and this is essentially just a film without many effects added (the statues on the sides of the screen do come alive), but I always come away feeling uplifted by the whole thing. It is almost like a scaled-down version of the American Adventure show at Epcot. Like that show, there is a nice montage at the end of this one, and I always enjoy these. I am not sure how much a non-Californian will connect with this, but I make a point to see it each time I visit DCA. Unfortunately, it looks like Golden Dreams will be closed very soon to make way for the new Little Mermaid ride as part of the make-over of California Adventure. While I am all for a Little Mermaid ride, I wish they could find room to keep this show as well.
Very nice movie. Great way to cool off and learn something in an entertaining environment. The movie includes Whoopi Goldburg, which I thought was a nice choice of actoress. The storyline is pretty good to with some small chessy jokes. I wouldnt suggest this for the kids but deffinatly for young adults to seniors.
Pleasent little movie about the "history" of California. Well directed and produced, the acting is fine, and theres a very basic in-theatre special effect. A pleasent air-conditioned break.
Great Show! While not one of Disneys best shows that I have seen it has its pluses. This show brings forth the advances that California has given the nation and the world. At the begining when the statues come to life, it made us all laugh. same tecnology as the Haunted Mansion. If you do not live in California you should go and see this show. It gives you a good idea what California is all about!
This is my most favorite show in Disneyland. It makes me proud to be Californian. I personally love it.
pathetic historical movie, nothing "interactive" besides the nice facial-effects on the statues...just good to sit down and have a break
