Grizzly Run at Darien Lake is a hard one for me to rate, as some of the water effects on it have been off the couple times I have ridden it. Were those on and present, my rating could be slightly better. As it is though, this is just an average rapids ride that is pretty fun, but not too thrilling. The crew is ok, but lines on these are not usually quick. The rapids are rather tame for the most part, and although youre fairly likely to get pretty wet towards the end with the last waterfall, you are nowhere near as drenched as you could be with either more waterfalls or all effects operational. This one honestly pales by comparison to some of the better ones Ive ridden at other parks (Hersheys and Dorneys spring to mind). Also, theres nothing really around the ride but a bunch of concrete, so it doesnt even feel like a trip through wild rapids without high rock canyons or other worthwhile theming. Worth a ride at this place if it does get hot, but overall its sadly just an average ride.
This was a nice rapids ride, but way too short. There were only a few rapids during the ride and the final waterfall got a few riders really wet, but other than that most people came off only pretty wet. This one had a pretty long wait though and there was almost no landscaping around the ride.
Appearence well maintained. Fun. Rerideable. Large capacity. Long duration. Ride this ride if youre hot and want to cool off because you will get wet on this ride.
I thought that this was a pretty bad Rapids ride- concrete galore, nothing too soaking, but at least you are guaranteed to get wet, while some can produce dry seats. Its hard to impress me with these things after hitting Shipwreck Rapids @ SW and Popeye @ IOA. I really hate the abundance of concrete and its sad that a park can have a pretty good mid-sized waterpark with sub-par water rides.
A great rapids ride. Gets you really wet. Its much better compared to the one at WoA.
A high-quality river-rapids ride. If you want to get soaked, ride this!
Great river-raft ride. The last waterfall packs quite a surprize but can someone tell me why it was closed some of last year?
This ride is a long wait on hot days, as you WILL get wet. As with most of the rest of the park, there is little to no themeing. Even if you stay dry the whole ride, there is no avoiding the last surprise waterfall. It is obvious this is an early river ride as there is no seatbelt or restraints. Something interesting to look out for: look at the rafts for the old, pre-Six Flags logo which hasnt been replaced.
A really fun, albeit short, rapid ride. The raft goes quite quickly despite there being not much altitude change, and the variety of waterfalls are nice. Its pretty much assured you will go under at least one, but I wouldve liked a luck element for the earlier falls, having the guarantee waterfall at the end. But a really good ride nonetheless (sp?)
nobady said to compare it coaster rd, anyway you will get wet on this one.
