This ride completely blew me away. It really maybe the best ride at the point.
Maverick is a steel sit down roller coaster. It is a blitz type. It was built by Intamin in 2007. It is 105' tall, it is 4,450' tall, it is fast (70 mph), fun, rerideable, it has a long duration, and a large capacity. It has 2 inversions. It lasts 2:30. It has a tunnel and is nicely decorated.
This could be the best ride in the park. I am very aware the TTD and MF are in the same park. This is the most fun ride I have been on. The the launches and all the twist and turns make this ride very unpredictable and fun.
Best ride I've ever been on. I said the same thing about Top Thrill Dragster in 2006, but this ride takes it to a "whole notha level". It's hard to believe a 105 foot drop could be better than Millenium Force, but I'd argue for it. The 95 degree angle gives you a feeling unlike any other in the park. After that drop, the ride never lets up - IT IS RELENTLESS. At this point you don't even know what hit you, with no time to catch your breath you get tossed through a series of quick turns, followed by an airtime hill that feels like it could toss you into Lake Erie. The inversions that follow aren't bad either. The second half of the ride is just as intense as the first. The launch in the tunnel, more quick turns, a few cool elements, etc.
I'd also like to add that the themeing is by far the best in the park, which is a huge plus. The line moves quick, is well shaded, and uses parts of White Water Landing very well. I'd be shocked if the 2013 (rumored) coaster can dethrone Maverick as the best at Cedar Point. Maverick truly reigns supreme at the best park in the world!
Lots of twists and turns, great airtime, awesome ride!!!!!!!!!
Short and intense. The theming is cool and the launching system is pretty awesome. Wish it would have lasted just a little longer! Will definetly ride it again and it is a good addition to the park.
Standing 105 feet tall at 70 miles per hour, it's neither the tallest nor the fastest, but it's the best ride at the park. Top Thrill Dragster, with all due and respect, nothing beats Maverick's 95 degree drop. It should be a crime to get this much airtime. After descending, you get airtime hills which makes your stomach come up faster than you can say airtime!. You get many sharp turns, tricking you into thinking you're going to fly off those tracks. And let's not forget the inversions which make you feel like you're going to fall out of that harness. Aside from that first drop, the best element, hands down, is the tunnel launch. The force is just incredible and almost hard to believe. Don't be fooled. This is an insane ride that has as much airtime as your little heart desires and thensome. Maverick is a life changing experience. And as for everyone complaining about the OTS restraints, I had no problem in them and the ride was as smooth as glass.
The one bad thing about Maverick is the restraints. By the end of the first ride, I was nearly in tears because of how tight it was pushed into my legs! And trust me, I'm no fatty. Otherwise, it was a fabulous ride: Theming was spot on, the launch was exhilarating, and every inversion was amazing. The best part was the launch inside the tunnel; I screamed for dear life both rides!
Its a good ride and worth the hour long wait. You enjoy the entire ride even if its going up side down or getting launched out of the tunnle at 72 m.p.h.
I like the ride, it's a lot of fun but there's something about the queue for it that makes me skip it. Aside from that, it's got one action packed element after another. The pacing is great, it grabs you from the launch up the lift and doesn't let you go until you hit the brakes at the end. I only wish the first drop was longer...95 degrees is fun!
