The Great American Scream Machine is a wood sit down roller coaster. It is a out and back. It was built in 1973. It was designed by John Allen. It is 105' tall, it is 3,800' long. It is a great ride that gave alot of airtime, it was fast, fun, rerideable, had an long duration, and a large capapcity.
Great air time, but man was it rough riding coaster. I expected better fom this coaster.
this was a great ride. it had lots of air time! it was well worth the 30 minute wait.
Its fun, but this picturesque coaster wasnt as good as I hoped. The drops were pretty tall for an out and back, but there was only a little air during the ride. The whole ride was very smooth though and the rides setting is great.
Pretty good ride. The lines tend to not get very long, but an average 15-30 minute wait is worth it. It is a little bumpy, but not like the Georgia Cyclone. The hills are pretty tall, and the lines move fast, but your seat can be taken by a FLASH-PASS user. The line moves pretty fast. The hills are pretty steep, so a good thrill is in this wonder. Its right next to Supermans Ultimate Flight, so while the thrill seekers are riding, the more mild ones can ride this. It is next to the sky swing ride, so you can watch people being dare-devils.
The ride delivers good speed about 50-60 MPH, somewhere around there. Now, the hills are pretty steep about a good 60-70 degree angle, excluding the last bunny hills. G-forces are pretty good, even though there is not too much air-time. You do get a good view of the Cotton States area and it goes on top of a small body of water. In conclusion, this is a good family ride that isnt too bumpy for a old roller coaster.
While on the ride, I remember thinking this is the perfect woodie - not too rough, and not too smooth. Great airtime and fun first drop. Must ride at SFOG.
Great woodie! The first drop is pretty thrilling. The ride seems to get rough after the second drop. However you do get spouts of airtime throughout the ride. Coasting over a nasty uncared for swamp is...great... The line isnt that bad, its worth a ride.
Pretty solid, given its age. The first drop gives a good pop of air, and at the top of the next hill is some more airtime. After that, the ride is quite uneventful, but riding at night is a good experience. If you ride in the back seat of any car of the train you will experience quite a painful ride. That is my main gripe with this coaster, is that you can get a good ride and your next ride can be one of the worst depending on where you sit.
Great ride. You need to get on this woodie. PTC all the way.
The Great American Scream Machine is a very awesome wooden coaster and its better than Rebel Yell at PKD.
