Fun little steel coaster, nice and smooth. Lots of spinning. Cramped cars for those with longer legs.
This being one of the newest rides, its a step up in my opinion. Anyone of any age should enjoy this ride if they like to spin and move at a decent pace. The spinning though isnt really intense where you might get sick. One of my favorites at Waldameer.
I have been to waldameer three times since it has been build but it has only been open once. The ride was unique but not that great.
I was led to this ride by my recent positive experiences in the UK. Although it was good it was nowhere nearly as good as the two I experienced overseas. APPEARANCE-6 Clean and sharp, but absolutley nothing else. The paint on the cars is quite sharp. CAPACITY-7 Pretty good. It was a busy day so the park was full and the line was quite long maybe 20 minutes so I thought that was appropriate. RIDE QUALITY-7 Very smooth, good turns, the horse shoe could have used more but the first drop was really good. FUN-7 Also very solid. It was my fourth spinning coaster and my parents first so they had a good time. RERIDE-8 I really like this park and the feel of it. I love that you can still pay per ride and their addition of a tower ride next year along with the future addition of the Ravine flyer has this park in a good position. OVERALL-35 AVG-7.0 Still a very solid ride and one of the two best in the park, but nowhere near the experience of Dragons Fury which currently resides in my top ten.
For the amount of time I had to wait, this was a pretty sweet ride. I do agree with some previous reviews, there did seem to be an odd smell in the area though. It was awesome flying through all those turns facing all over the place. I rode at night, and am pretty sure I ate my bug quota for the month...
This ride was quite fun with some fast parts and a lot of spinning. However, the view on this ride isnt too good and its family target audience makes for only a moderately exciting ride.
I agree with Red, these are great to ride facing backwards. Of course the cars are aligned with two seats faces forwards and two bacward as you go up the lift hill. What really subtracts from this ride is the area around the ride smells like garbage. I got a lot of spinning on my ride with butterflies on the drops. Luckily my car went through the helix while spinning, which is a great feeling. One element that I dont recall on the other spinning mice was winding s-turns at the end of the ride. Not hairpins, but like the road signs you see on a winding two lane highway. I also found the seats uncomfortable and wish there was more padding on the back in the seat.
Times ridden: 3 ~ Ride experience: 9 ~ Layout: 9 ~ Thrill factor: medium ~ Airtime: low ~ Landscaping: 5 ~ Evaluation: Steel Dragon is simmilar to an ordinary wild mouse...lets just say its like a lab rat, and the experiment went all wrong. The ride is fairly mild, and can be enjoyed and experienced by many. The sensations and feeling you get while spinning, and going backwards on the track are just mind boggling. Overall, the Steel Dragon is just plain fun thats not too thrilling, but yet not too tame either. I recommend sitting in the seats facing backwards for that out of control, I dont know whats happening feeling.
I had lots of fun on this, and the spinning was a welcome diversion from the normal mouse qualities.
