Just an average train ride. As someone else on here said, it would be better if it took an actual tour of the park. You just go through the woods, and while I give them credit for at least trying to do something different with a show half way through, it dragged on to me. It was more geared towards the kids I think which is fine. But I was bored. Sorry.
the christmas show was boring
The only time I like to ride this train is at Christmas time, because it takes you past some very breathtaking Christmas Light displays. During the spring and summer time, it is quite boring, and the drama part of it isnt even that great. All you pretty much see is trees and the back parts of some of the rides. It is however, a good way to rest your feet for a while without having to sit in one place. For that reason along with the Christmas Light display in the winter, i will give it a 5.
Maybe I didnt feel like it that day, but I found that this train was kind of boring. It brings you back into the woods. Ive seen the woods before. I can walk about 300 ft and be in the woods. I would perfer a theme park train take more of a tour of the park. The cars also seem to jerk back and forth a lot more than most trains do (or at least it did the time I rode). A bonus though is that the train does have a person doing the spieling instead of a dull recording. The mid-point show isnt really anything to talk about either (I dont care too much for any type of show). Its just your basic train hijacking. I understand most parks that had a mid-pt show have stopped having theirs. To me, that is a good thing.
This is a nice train ride that brings you through the woods of SDC with a mid-way stop for a little show-down. Also, an actual person does the spieling! But then again, it is just a train ride.
Once again, excellent review. It is good to see The Frisco and Marvel Cave on this site. I agree, this is clearly one of the best train rides out there. It gives you a great view of the Ozark Mountains, Table Rock Lake, and nature at its finest.
This by far is the best train ride in the U.S. The Frisco is an authentic Steam Locomotive pulled from service when the diesel engine was born. The 100+ year old track is over 3 miles long, round trip. And SDC is one of the last remaining train rides to have a show at the mid point. Plus you can take beverages on board to enjoy. I recommend for late afternoon cool down or if you are new to the park, mid morning to see an overview of the park without walking the steep hills first. :trophy:
