The Flying Scooters are a flat ride. They are fun, rerideable, fast, they have a large capacity, and a long duration.

Flying Scooters are often an attraction only found at family-owned parks. Being a traditional, family-owned park, I was not shocked to learn that Seabreeze had a version of this classic flat. However, prior to riding, I was curious as to how strong Seabreeze’s Flying Scooters would be. Some flyers that I have been on such as Knoebels’s Flyer and Kings Dominion’s Flying Eagles have been incredibly wild and intense experiences. Meanwhile, others have been slow and rather uneventful experiences such as Lake Compounce’s American Flyers. Unfortunately, Seabreeze’s Flying Scooters, while not quite as bad, were closer in quality to the latter.

Located next to the Jack Rabbit, the Flying Scooters sported a sleek yellow and green paint scheme. While I would typically find this paint scheme to be ugly, personally I think that it works in this case since the attraction has several trees and bushes surrounding it. Often times due to their low capacity, flying scooters have a fairly sizeable wait. Fortunately, Seabreeze’s model was a walk-on all day from what I could see.

Unlike other installations, this one seemed to have rather fast load times. I say seemed to since my ride was delayed a bit though as a young boy slipped underneath his tub while boarding and his mesh, NBA shirt got caught on a wire underneath the tub. Immediately, the ride op called for help and began calming the boy down as he was panicking quite a lot as he could not free himself from the monstrous tub. After about 5 minutes, the ride op and the park manager were able to free him the tub and the park was very apologetic to the kid. A+ for Seabreeze, as that is how a park should treat their guests in a difficult situation like that.

As mentioned earlier, the Flying Scooters sadly are not an exceptional flat. Not only did it have a much shorter cycle than almost all of the park’s other flats, but the ride was not run particularly fast. Therefore, the swinging on this version was minimal. Despite this, the ride still provided a great breeze and some near-misses with the nearby trees and bushes. Also, the ride provides for some sensation views of the park’s incredible Log Flume.

While I love Seabreeze, I was not blown away by the Flying Scooters. Despite having a great location in the park, the ride itself was mediocre. Not only did it have an incredibly brief cycle, but the ride’s top speed was very slow as well, which sapped any potential of some intense swinging or snapping. While this definitely is not an abysmal and painful experience, it is a fairly uneventful and boring experience. Because of this, I feel that your time at Seabreeze could be better spent on their other attractions.

I liked this ride but the rubber stops took away lot of the fun of swinging the things

These neutered scooters are better than HP, for whatever thats worth. You can tell that the rubber stops have taken their toll on these rudders as every rudder has been cracked and reinforced with a metal brace where the fiberglass hits the rubber stops.

Okay, I know I am spoiled by Knoebels Flyers. I would guess that SeaBreezes version had potential to be really great flyers, possibly rivaling Knoebels, but the ride has been neutered by the placement of two large plastic/rubber stops on each side of the sail/rudder, alowing movement of the sail or rudder to only go a few degrees in each direction. Because of this, what you get is a very unremarkable ride.

A very fun and unique flat ride. You can control the way your planes fly too, which makes it very fun. But be careful!!! When you fly around to the entrance, there is a light located about an inch away from where your plane will fly, and it seems as though youll fly right into it LOL
