After reading reviews for Superman and hearing how lack luster and mediocre it was. I wasn't expecting much from it. And was pleasantly surprised by what I experienced. The coasters lineups are long, and its breakdowns all too frequent, but those are the only bad things about the coaster IMO. As soon as your on the ride the excitement sets in. Your lifted from your sitting position into your free flying form and you head to the skys soon after. At the top of the drop I put my hands out like a bird and soared as we plummeted towards the ground and then flew up back into the sky. The theme for this coaster couldn't be better. You feel like superman! The next element after the first drop is INTENSE. Theres something about pretzel loops that just doesn't feel right. It's almost as if you feel while plummeting 180 degrees that you will smash into the ground at any second. And in a way you feel like you do. While falling to the ground you can feel yourself slipping forward, and then you hit the bottom of the loop. And the G forces are INTENSE. The bottom of the loop must pack 3-5 G's. You can feel your while body squished into the back of the seat, and your blood is sucked down into your feet. This is the most intense inversion I've experience on a coaster. Not only is it excitingly odd, but packs a punch too. After this you fly skyward and into a helix down ward which pulls you down into the restraints. After this the ride consists of a bunch of quite fun overbanked turns. This is all the coaster needs, it doesn't need to wow you anymore, not after that pretzel loop and first drop, it only needs to send you flying over the land. Swooping this way and that like the Man of steel himself. Each overbanked turn provides some force, as it pulls you into your restraints. After the multitude of banked turns you turn once more and into an inline twists which flips you around as a finale, and after this you hit the brakes. I believe Superman is everything B&M wanted a flyer to be. I'm sure their newer fliers are more intense and innovative, but this one works just as well. After riding Zamplerla flying coasters, B&M ones are really a treat. They actually give you a sensation of flying, which is what I wanted from a flying coaster.

Superman: The Ultimate Flight is one of the most disappointing rides I've ever been on. It isn't a bad ride, but what can I say, 70% of the ride was absolutely lackluster and boring!

Well, I've heard from some people that Tatsu, on the other hand, is one of the best steel coasters ever built. Alright, this way, I can understand that Bolliger and Mabillard learned from their mistakes and improved the initial ride to something much more spectacular.

But that still can't excuse what they've done with S:UF! What we have here is a failed experimentation: this roller coaster absolutely fell on its face! Well, let's break this mess into all it has to offer. I'm gonna show you why I hate it so much.

You've first got that lift hill, and the first time you're on it, it's just great. You simply WERE NOT expecting this lift hill to feel so vertiginous. Of course, when you're on your 3rd-4th ride, it loses its appeal, but it's still always a cool effect.

Next is the first drop, where the ride starts to feel busted. It had so much potential! But instead of getting something that makes you feel like flying, you just slowly get off the lift and slowly take a weak turn to the right and slowly pass above the ground and go up again. The potential this first drop had is 100% wasted here. It just doesn't feel exhilirating, impressive, innovative or great... just a bit fun.

BUT, right after the lame first drop, get ready to dive into the ABSOLUTE highlight of this whole thing. And I mean DIVE into it. This inverted loop provides an unparralelled sense of diving straight down into HELL. At the bottom of this excellently executed inversion, you litterally get crushed by the G-forces. Just crushed. And the moment where you exit the invertion over a mild crest with half your weight as opposed to the probable 4 Gs you just experienced is the only moment where you feel like flying. And I mean it.

Now, the next part takes probably 50% of the ride and is also the main reason why it fails so much. YOU CAN'T FEEL IT. I consists of a turnaround after the masterpiece I just talked about, 2 overbanked turns and a helix, but none of those elements feels engaging or demonstrates any sign of significant G-forces. You don't feel thrilled by a certain flying-like-Superman sensation B-M has been attempting so hard to pull off this whole time, you're just bored! It's slow, it's weak, and it just doesn't feel right!

Lucky Superman, he still has got one more trick up his sleeve: a little out of place barrel roll just to end the ride in a better way than what has just been experienced. And guess what?

This barrel roll works! I thought the spin felt great! Oh, but if this little excuse to leave the passengers with a better taste in their mouths when the ride is over made you expect something better awaiting you ahead, don't set your bar too high, you're slamming into the brakes within' the second. Now, prepare for 3 minutes of uncomfortable waiting hanged face down waiting for these sloths to dispatch the other train!

Well, all in all, Superman: Ultimate Flight just doesn't nail it. Sure, the pretzel loop is a blast and a classic, but it just doesn't have much going for itself! It's just weak, lackluster and overall NOT AT ALL worth the 2 1/2 hour wait you're likely to face if you want to give it a try.

FAIL.

This was an anticapted coaster to experience! It was the first and so far only flying coaster I have ever been on, so I don&#39.t really have anything to compare it to. On a very hot day the sprinklers in the queue were a nice touch. They left us drenched but we dried off quickly. The theming in the queue helped make the wait seem not so long and canopies provided some shade. Up in the station, loading time was good. We were facing the ground with our backs to the track in no time at all. Going up the incline with nothing between you and the ground is little unnerving, especially when its the first ride of the day, but it sure gets the adrenaline going! The pretzel loop is an interesting experience to say the least and the barrel roll makes you feel like a superhero flying through the air! Definitely worth a reride if you have the time. Just make sure you &#39.secure all loose articles&#39. as you may lose your cell phone!

This was one of my favorite coasters when I visited the park. This is the only coaster of this kind in the North East. Superman-Ultimate Flight is based on the DC comics super hero Superman, it defies the laws of gravity as riders fly head first through highly banked curves, spirals, and a jaw dropping, pretzel shaped inverted loop at 60 mph. This roller coaster opened in 2003. This was my first B&M flying coaster I ever rode and I loved it. The first hill is 115 feet tall, the first drop is 100 feet tall. This ride has several elements that make the ride unique. It has a pretzel shaped inverted loop, spiral, horseshoe, and an inline roll. The track length is 2,759 feet of twisting, looping blue, red, and yellow steel. They have three trains especially designed to carry 28 passengers flying four abreast. The ride is fun, rerideable, has a large capacity, and a long ride duration of almost three minutes. The uniqueness about this coaster is you leave the station lying on your stomach. You climb the lift hill of 115 feet dive into a pretzel shaped inverted loop where trains climb to the top of the figure and dive into the loop close to the ground highlighting the feeling of flying. There is a sequence of thrilling curves and dives that include a highly inclined "horseshoe" curve and and a high speed spiral. This is then followed by a 360 degree in line roll right before entering the station. This ride is a must ride at SF Great Adventure. You will not be disappointed.

Big disappointment. Certainly not my least favorite coaster ever, but so far my worst B&M, and I think I have more complaints than praises. First off, the capacity just stinks. There’s no way this should be the longest line in the park with two train operation, but it was on my visit, and I’ve heard it is routinely. Secondly, I found the flying position to be just plain weird and uncomfortable to be in for that long. I thought the Vekoma flyers were uncomfortable, but laying down head first for five minutes waiting to get unloaded beats any uncomfortableness that the Vekoma’s can offer. The ride itself was very “meh.” Although it was smooth, comfortable, and in some places forcefull, there is really no part of this “perfected” B&M that has me craving a second ride. The drop was ligh years behind the Vekoma Flyers, as it seemed slower, less steep, and lacking that incredible “lie to fly” effect. The pretzel loop was pretty amazing, and is really the ride’s saving grace. Such great intensity through the first half, then a great “release” of intensity through the second. After the pretzel loop, the ride seemed short and slow, with no memorable elements, save a decent heartline roll. Yea, this heartline roll actually impressed me, but it didn’t impress me that it was followed by the brakes and then five minutes of staring at rider’s shoes in the row ahead of me. I guess I just don’t get flyers. The Vekomas seem to have better elements, and are faster paced, while the B&Ms are undoubtedly smoother with a better feature element. Whatever the case may be, the ride simply has no re-ride factor for me up against SFGAd’s outstanding thrill ride line up.

Supermans fun & interesting as Ive never been on a flying coaster before, but its too gimmicky & short for my tastes. The only good parts of the ride were the first drop & the pretzel loop (when it was at the bottom). Aside from that, it was just a bunch of turns which were good for lateral Gs, but then it was just an in-line twist & it was over all too soon. Overall, Superman: Ultimate Flight has a unique concept whichs great for first-time riders, but if youve been on it many times, youll get bored real easily as nothing really stands out for it to make it one of the best coasters around.

A fun ride. As others said, that nose dive pretzel loop is VERY intense. Its restraint system (and smoothness) is much better and more comfortable than that of its close cousins (you know... the ones made by Vekoma)

Tatsu at SFMM was my very first B&M flying coaster experience, so it is going to be very hard for anything else to measure up. Having said that, I can add that I was still completely content with Superman. True, it is not as long or tall, but I do think it delivered a very enjoyable ride of its own. Unlike with Tatsu, where the pretzel loop comes at the end of the ride, this wonderful element begins Supermans flight. It is a very intense, very exciting inversion. After that, the coaster just sort of swoops around for a while. Even though lots of reviews complain about the lack of action here, I found it to be very pleasant and almost relaxing. Maybe thats not the sensation a coaster is designed to deliver, but I went with it. The setting is rather interesting too. The queue line borders a large, perfectly manicured lawn/park area, and the ride takes place directly above this. A nice tranquil location for a nice tranquil coaster.
