One of the best turbo drops Ive been on. The theming around the base of the tower was great, as the dragon entrance was cool and I really liked the oriental operating booth. The views from the top were incredible as I saw the ocean and even Palace Playland. As always, the drop was sudden and a big thrill, as I got good air time and a decent stomach dropping sensation.

APPEARANCE: Top-notch for a drop tower and easily the best theming I have seen for a drop tower other than Tower of Terror. Funtown dedicated an entire area specifically for this ride and the rides entrance has a giant and very good looking dragon. Also, the operating booth is themed to an Oriental house, which is a very nice touch. Oh yeah, and the views from the top are unmatched as I saw Old Orchard, the ocean, and the surrounding area including Aquaboggan down the street and Palace Playland.

WAIT TIME: 5-10 minutes- Usually I visit Funtown at the end of the season when its less crowded, and therefore its usually a walk-on or a one cycle wait. Even if I visited on a busier day, I cant imagine this having a wait longer than 10-15 minutes because of how fast the operators load this. They were very efficient and had a good time working too. Along with the operators, Funtown prenumbered riders before they got on to prevent confusion.

RIDE: This was my first turbo drop and the first "huge" drop tower I had been on, so I obviously was intimidated by the ride (previously my tallest were Canobie and Playlands Double Shot towers). Well the ride slowly ascends to the top and then holds the entire car there, treating everyone to amazing views. Then suddenly (usually after 10 seconds or so), the ride drops. I got a good burst of air-time the moment the drop began and the whole way to the bottom was very fast and provided a pretty-good stomach dropping sensation. Following that were a few uneventful bounces.

FINAL VERDICT: Simply breathtaking. The drop is just plain incredible, and when the drop is combined with the sensational views, Dragons Descent is an incredible ride. In fact it turned out to be my favorite ride at Funtown (even better than Excalibur). If you enjoy these drop towers, dont miss one of the best ones out there.

wicked awesome... it makes your face implode. also convenient for checking on your vehicle as you get a good veiw of the parking lot. Lines are never bad, and sometimes you can stay on it for a few times in a row.

APPEARANCE-9 The dragon and the chinese theme is very good and really adds to the view when you are at the top. CAPACITY-7 They have the line pre numbered which is a great idea, but they did not use it when I was there so it was just a free for all once they let you in the ride. RIDE QUALITY-7 I like the one at Compounce better, but this was still a nice pretty smooth ride. Did make a huge clanking sound when we were at the bottom lowering into the ground. FUN-7 I like getting shot up better and I really like the sound effects on Downtime so it was not as fun as it could have been. RERIDE-7 It is not likely I will be back here anytime soon so that hurts the reride on all their rides. OVERALL-37 AVG-7.4 I will go 7 since it was a good version of this type ride, but I have also rode several better versions.

its a cool turbo drop but what makes this ride is the view from the top. you get up near the top and get lost in the scenery and bang back to earth you come. from the top if you ride the side facing the big dragon in front of the ride you can see most of the area coast and of course old oarchard beach is visable. look for the tall strucktures you can most times spot galixi. it was easier when they had the slide tower at oob.

This ride is my favorite to run AND ride. Its got great views all around the top, a sudden drop that gets my breath everytime, and sound effects to boot. Ive been on turboDrops that shoot you up almost as fast as they drop you (Dr. Doom in Treasure Island) but I like the slow ascent! My favorite ride in the whole park!

Fantastic themeing, short lines, and a 200 foot drop. what more could you ask for in a ride? Well maybe some LASER beams... hehe... I never get sick of this ride. It would be nice to see FunTown extend the area out and add more asian themed rides.

yah my old review was mixed up...but dragons descent is alright i guess.. it has a good view..and for a fun town ride..its cool..cept that little kid on the commercials gets on my nerves...but hey!

Well themed area for an amazing ride. The best themed drop ride Ive ever been on (not including Disney). The "Manderine Village" puts SFNE to shame. Very tall, short lines, great view and an awesome rush every time.

One of the best drop towers I have run into. Great stomach dropping sensation.
