Review of Apollos Chariot @ Busch Gardens Williamsburg
2 Rating Posted by: Steve NY on 5/2/2008 8:28:00 PM
Let me start off saying that I have not being absolutely blown away by B&M hypers like everyone else has. Yes they are fun coasters, but they just seem less intense than others like the ones made by Intamin. Apollos strong point definitely is its setting because of how well the ride is concealed and how its a hyper coaster and a terain coaster as well. Not many coasters can make that claim. Anyway, I do love B&M hyper trains and the freedom they provide just is incredible. Now I find back seat rides on this to be really good, but front seat rides are really lackluster in my opinion and just have no intensity. The back provides insane air on all the major drops, but there just werent as many air moments as I had hoped. Also, there were a few hills lacking air completely and the helix is very overrated. It gave no forces at all! Is Apollo an amazing coaster. No, but its a very solid hyper thanks to the air in the back.

Like most B&Ms, you cant really hate this ride, but it leaves you wanting more. I consider this one of the most overrated rides in coasterdom.

I love this ride and could ride it pretty much all day. It salways funny to look at peoples top tens when they view rides so differently. Timberman we have like 6 coasters the same in our top ten, but I find your number 1 to be the most overrated wood coaster on the planet. Its just funny how close we are on so many, and how far we are off on a couple.

Coaster05, our top tens are even closer than you think. S:ROS at SFNE could easily be in mine, but for the ankle-grabbers. I seem to fixate on restraint systems, while you seem to react strongly to a coasters environment. Would Avalanche have a shot in your top ten if it werent in the Dells?

I agree with this assessment of Apollos: Semi-strong air in the back and marginal air in the front. Not much intensity anywhere, but the ride really doesnt need it. I found the front to be a bit fun simply because of the awesome sensation of speed and wind-clearly not as good as the airtime you get in the back, but fun enough
