Review of Rockn Roller Coaster @ Disney-MGM Studios
-2 Rating Posted by: ginzo on 2/20/2007 9:03:00 AM
Awful Vekoma Head Banging Trash. After hearing good things about this ride, I assumed that this would be one of the mythical good Vekomas. But, the fact that the OTSRs didnt fit me was the first hint that this wasnt true. There isnt much to like here. This ride bangs your head pretty well, even at slow and relatively straight points in the course. Speaking of slow points, the latter half of this relative short ride is slow and boring. I said, "Thats it?" when we exited the trains after waiting over an hour on a busy day where all the fast passes were long gone. With all the money invested into this attraction youd think they would have bothered to made the ride smooth. The all caps using poster a few pages down who claims this is the best Disney coaster clearly hasnt experienced California Screamin. Or maybe hes punch drunk from riding this POS. Disney: this is Orlando; either buy a swiss coaster or forget it.

Awful review. Youre clearly in the minority here. The very, very last row is the only row on Rock n Roller Coaster where you even get any sort of headbanging. Everything else is smooth, much smoother than the completely overrated Incredible Hulk at IOA (the two coasters are often compared for being the only launched looping coasters in Florida.

But youre right! They should buy from B&M instead and get something unintentionally boring and forceless like Kraken! *rolleyes*

I agree with raptor as well. I rode this ride three times in one day and experenced no headbanging.

"The very, very last row is the only row on Rock n Roller Coaster where you even get any sort of headbanging." Nope. I was second to front. Im not making this up. Vekoma is not known for smooth rides. *Everyone* knows that. I think Ill lower my rating another point. Im going back to WDW in November. If the ride is smoother, Ill up it a few points. I still think the layout is dull, especially the second half, which is less exciting than some kiddie coasters Ive been on. California Screamin, a Disney launched coaster made by Intamin, is 1,000 better than Rock n Roller coaster. Also, the Aerosmith theme is stupid. Aerosmith hasnt been popular for 15 years.

You lowered your rating because people disagree with you. What a BABY.

Hmmm...I saw people singing along with the music on Rock n Roller Coaster since they knew almost all of the songs by heart. Plus Aerosmith was in a couple of recent movies. Yeah Aerosmith is extremely unpopular.
ginzo on 2/24/2007 2:49:39 PM said:
"You lowered your rating because people disagree with you. What a BABY." No. I lowered it because people marked this review as "bad" when they merely disagree with it. A bad review is poorly written, doesnt give coherent rationales, etc. This caused me to rethink my rating of the ride, adding a new element: obnoxious fan boys. Maybe Ill rethink the rating again. If I were a baby, Id go around sniping the reviews of all my critics. But, Im not going to do that. Even though one of them has the Beast in his top 10, which is laughable.

Ive ridden this one several times, and yeah, there are some places you have to brace yourself if you want to avoid painful jolts. Is it like a typical Vekoma? no way! But it does have its moments, and people Ive been to the park with who go even more frequently than I do would agree that there are some spots on the ride...

I just didnt get it. I got bashed in the head from some pretty uncomfortable restraints, and then everything after that was boring. I was just at Disneyland a month ago, and found California Screamin to be infinitely better. Take away the fact that I think Aerosmith is out of date, and you still have pretty cheesy theming compared to Tower of Terror, which is right next to this ride. I think this ride would be much better if it were Intamin, but I dont think Intamin was making launched coasters in the time that this was built. Were they?

I didnt give you a bad review on this. I think it was a pretty well written review. I just disagree with you. My problem is that you lowered your score because 3 people disagreed with you. Also WTF does the Beast have to do with anything. That is just another inmature remark.

I have to say, putting B&M down like that is not at all cool. While if you dont like them, thats one thing, but to say they are dull and forceless is a complete farce. How could you even say anything that bad about Kraken. Kraken is one of the best, if not the best coaster I have ever been on. B&Ms are some of the best coasters made. The hulk is by no means rough. B&M continues to prove that you dont need fancy crap and tricks to make good, consistent rides.

Hey anonymous. Obviously you have no idea who I am. Yes, I am a big fan of B&Ms, considering the fact that they are the majority of all big coasters I have ever been on. I realize this is a review of rrc, but I was not the person who brought up B&M. If you read Raptors review, you would have noticed that he was not being sarcastic about B&Ms. Maybe it is you, not I, that should graduate middle school.

"My problem is that you lowered your score because 3 people disagreed with you." I lowered it because people gave me a bad review merely because they didnt agree with my opinion. Here, Ill raise it to 5. If it runs better in November, Ill raise it more. Happy?

Ginzo first of all people are allowed to give "bad" reviews on whatever they want. the same thing happened on my TTD review. But changing the rating because of it is a pansy move. Second judging by your other reviews you definately have a some "rough" issues, meaning you play that card quite a bit in your review. Maybe the rides are not as rough as it is that you may be a little soft. Both of these things are fine and are in your right as a reviewer, however criticizng someone else for their top ten, when you dont have one is weak. Man up, rank your rides if you are going to criticize others for their choice and stop crying about three bads.

Not really. I thought it was hilarious at the time. Perhaps youre taking this a bit on the serious side.

"Second judging by your other reviews you definately have a some "rough" issues, meaning you play that card quite a bit in your review."

Restraints often dont fit me, because Im tall. When OTSRs cramp down on your shoulders you are guaranteed a painful ride. And, I dont mind a little roughness when the overall experience warrants it. I used to even like SOB before I had ridden that many coasters. I love Voyage and Avalanche. But, lets face it. Theres a lot of overly rough TRASH out there, and a lot of parks that are too cheap ass to keep their rides up. And maybe I enjoy trashing bad rides more than I enjoy praising good rides. Call it a character defect, but I do recall the word "critic" being in the URL of this site.

"Man up, rank your rides if you are going to criticize others for their choice and stop crying about three bads."

Actually, I did have a top 10 up until yesterday. But, I decided that it was all wrong, and took it down. Ill put it back up when I get around to thinking it through, which isnt easy for me. Again, stop taking this too seriously. Posting stuff on the Internet is in no way "manning up".

So you give as a paragraph about why a ride should be scored as bad, but I am the one who takes it to seriously? You are the one who is having trouble with how people view your review, but I am the one who is being pointed out for the "critic" part of this site. I dont know how tall you are but I am 6 foot 1 and notice the OTSRs all the time. It is not the rides fault if you are above average height. Finally I dont believe I am the one taking this two seriously since I dont feel the need to worry if others give me bads, or to respond to every statement someone makes on my ride review.
