Review of Bizarro @ Six Flags Great Adventure
1 Rating Posted by: biosciking on 2/7/2007 11:40:00 PM
The first time I visited Great Adventure, Medusa was the newest coaster in the park. It also had the distinction of being the very first floorless coaster. Suffice it to say, the line was enormous, and the wait took a long time. Still, the ride was worth it. On my return trip to Great Adventure this past summer, four new coasters had been added, and while they all had quite lengthy lines, Medusas was now nonexistent. It almost felt like the ride was hidden away from everything else in a corner of the park. However, Im glad to say that the ride was still as good as it was back then, and Im glad reviews on this site are still very positive. B&Ms floorless design is a winner, both the trains and the track layout. Medusa is all about fast and powerful inversions, each executed in a smooth and unrestricting floorless seat. It may not be the king (or, I guess, queen) of Great Adventures coaster arsenal anymore, but youve got to give credit to the ride that started a great coaster trend, especially one that still holds up so well itself.

Excellent review biosciking. Sounds like you had some great memories of Medusa & Im glad that the thrill of it hasnt eluded from you yet. Soon enough, Ill be riding Medusa & many more of the New Jersey coasters come this summertime. By the way, did you mean to say that its not the king (or, I guess, queen) of Great Adventures coaster arsenal instead of Great America whichs in Illinois?

Ah, yes, thanks for catching that. Not sure why I made that mistake, as Ive never been to Six Flags Great America. Though I suppose I could have been thinking of Paramounts Great America, which I did visit not too long ago.

Was it good? I heard it was the worst Paramount (well ex Paramount) park out of the 5 of them.

^Very little has ever attracted to me to that park. I love B&M inverts, but even Top Gun looks weak.

biosciking - Great review. I have not ridden Medusa, but I have ridden Kraken and agree about the powerful, smooth inversions and trains. Your review was nicely concise, detailed, and easy-to-read too. Nice job!

Paramounts Great America (now just Great America) was an average park, no better or worse than the other area park, Six Flags Marine World (now Six Flags Discovery Kingdom). Top Gun was definitely the top ride. Its not huge as far as B&M inverts go, but it certainly wasnt weak--it packed quite a punch for its size. Let me also add that while I loved Medusa, I think Sea World Floridas Kraken is the ultimate floorless coaster.
