I would argue (as Im sure would most) that Intamin is the king of hypercoasters. However, there is a lot to be said for B&M hypers as well. While Intamin is all about the speed and airtime, B&M seems to provide a more relaxed (yet surprisingly no less thrilling) experience. Nitro is so unbelievably smooth and comfortable that you might think youre riding your easy chair around the track. The seat is very contoured, the lap bar is snug but not at all restricting, and your feet are able to dangle freely a bit. I even enjoyed the lift hill, as it gives plenty of time to look around, take in the view of Great Adventure, and realize how high youre getting. The first drop, to me the best part of coaster riding, is absolutely wonderful. Its very tall, steep, and fast, and you have so much freedom with just the lap bar to let your arms and legs go. I have ridden Apollos Chariot quite some time ago, and though it was my favorite ride at Busch Gardens, Im going to say that Nitro is even better. This, like Apollos, is a very sprawling coaster, but it has a few tighter twists and turns in addition that give it the edge. What I guess is being called the Hammerhead turn was very nice, as was the helix. But it truly is all the ups and downs that make this ride, like any good hypercoaster, what it is. From the huge ones toward the beginning to the little hops at the end (and I love how this provides a couple small dips followed by an even larger one to finish), Nitro delivers a breathtaking ride. Though its not quite as good as Superman at Six Flags Darien Lake, it does leap into the current spot as my favorite B&M.
