Review of Mantis @ Cedar Point
1 Rating Posted by: Hussman on 1/2/2007 1:25:00 AM
I certainly hate to give this ride a 2, but I will explain. I rode this twice and I hated it both times. Both times as soon as we started going down the hill, my leg started hurting. Then, later through the ride I could tell the circulation in my leg was getting cut off. It hurt so bad I couldnt wait to get off. This happened both times and I experienced a lot of pain. I would have given this a 1 but due to my wonderful experiences on other stand up coasters I decided to be nice and give it a 2.

It is a painful ride indeed. I enjoyed the first drop, loop, and Dive Loop. The rest was painful

I really didnt think it was that painful- more of uncomfortable... It was really that bad for you?

I started feeling this AFTER I got off the ride. We made the mistake of making Mantis the last ride of the night and I could hardly sleep that night from the pain in my calves. I love the experience of a stand-up, though, so regardless I dont think that will keep me from riding Mantis again.

Mantis is more on the uncomfortable side than the painful side. If they could get rid of that restraint system that holds your butt off, I wouldve given it a perfect 10, but I just felt that it was unnecessary to have those type of restraints pushed all up on you. All they couldve had was just something to hold up your legs & thats it. Mantis is still one of the better B&M stand-ups out there. Im only saying this based on the statistics & the fact that its the only B&M stand-up Ive been on.

I agree Hussman. Mantis is pretty bad and the pain was a little more than should be expected on any coaster. One ride was enough for me. Luckily, the GA Scorcher and especially Chang at SFKK still make the case for fun stand-up coasters.
