Review of Wildcat @ Lake Compounce
0 Rating Posted by: Scott on 2/8/2005 3:03:00 PM
Meh - A pretty average wooden coaster. Nothing special. Wildcat is fun, but theres not much else to be said. It doesnt have any good airtime. Just speed and laterals. All of the lateral throws are to the left, so tenderfoots, stay right. Oh, yeah, by all means, avoid the axle seats. The axle seats are brutal. After a great first ride, I sat in the back axle seat. I was violently thrown around and slammed my thighs into the lap bar. It was quite painful, and made this coaster lose a couple of points. So... The Wildcat isnt a terrible coaster, it just isnt terribly exciting either. Ive had great rides on this and terrible rides on it. I guess its time for them to retrack... again? Oh, sorry adriahna. I couldnt think of a better word then "Meh" LOL

The coaster is getign retracked. but only a littel at a time. is a couple years they should have it all gone.

A coaster gets a "meh", and yet still gets an 8? You said it was average, Im just wondering, cause I usually equate average to something around a 6, but thats up to you

After re-reading and thinking about it. I gave it a 7.

Makew up your mind. This coaster can be unprodictable. also keep in mind that is nearly 80 years old.

Calm down mrc Hes not the only one that has changed his mind, especially only one point, I know Ive struggled between numbers before, they dont always come out as a solid integer.

Im not trying to be mean. I know others have changed there mind. just trying to say its old and it will take some time for theme to get it back up to par.

I knew you werent being mean, so I threw the wink () guy in there. Just messin with you a bit

Did you get at least one ride in the very front? It´s about 180 degrees better than the back. And keep in mind this is the oldest operating coaster in New England, so obviously it´s gonna be a little slow and shaky with less airtime than you´d like, no matter how many times they retrack it.
mrceagle on 2/11/2005 1:00:16 PM said:
i WOULD AGREE THE RIDE IN THE FRONT IS FAR BETTER. YOU JSUT GET THROUGHN SO MUCH IN THE BACK. A GREAT EXAMPLE OF A CLASSIC COASTER NONE THE LESS.

Sory for the caps i dont have time to fix them.

i was in a rush. I dont have much time in the day for the sites. I have less time to fix things.
ibluv on 2/14/2005 2:06:55 PM said:
OK mrc, but for someone who has no time for these sites, you have quite a few posts under your belt (more than the rest of us by far. You must be closing in on 8000). And you must´ve had enough time to doublecheck ur last post cuz everything´s spelled correctly
mrceagle on 2/14/2005 2:21:37 PM said:
I was at 7,000 2 years ago. at one time I spend many times of the day on the sie. now its not quite so easy. Im lucky if I post 50-100 times in a week. and most of that is windign down after I do my work. this one was a last minute post before iI went to a student senant meating. I had to leave.

Ya, basicly i try to grab the sites on my lunch brake and after a project is done. somtimes a likyl jsut before to wind down.
ibluv on 2/17/2005 1:01:51 PM said:
Yeah, been there, done that. Now I´m studying abroad, and it´s a real break from college madness. You should try it.

I really enjoyed the front of this coaster, but the back seat gave me a headache for an hour.
ibluv on 2/17/2005 1:38:31 PM said:
I´m surprised the back didn´t sever my spine. That´s hardcore old wood for ya.
mrceagle on 2/17/2005 3:19:23 PM said:
Ive riden in the very front and back of the train. i mostly grab the middle so I can get on faster.

Wouldnt mind studying abroad. but I cant aford anythign right now.
ibluv on 2/21/2005 3:21:50 PM said:
Actually, that depends on where you want to study. It´s way cheaper for me to live in northern Spain than the U.S. Thru the exchange program I pay the exact same amount to my university back home but instead I attend classes at the host university here (it also helps if you have scholarships-I only got a couple). Rent is much cheaper-only about $200 a month for a VERY nice apartment that I share with 2 other students, and groceries are dirt cheap for the most part. I even got round trip airfare for $500. But I got screwed over on the exchange rate from dollars to euros (right now $1=.70 euros).
mrceagle on 2/22/2005 1:54:18 PM said:
Not bad. maybe in the future. right now its jsut too far out of the question.
ibluv on 2/22/2005 2:10:05 PM said:
Europe for the most part is wicked expensive tho (10 bucks for a cup of coffee in England-no joke). Keep it in mind when and if you decide to do it. I just lucked out
BobFunland on 2/22/2005 4:17:18 PM said:
Yea, but from what Ive seen, getting over there is as cheap as its been in a long time. I couldnt believe how cheap some airfares were
mrceagle on 2/23/2005 10:32:57 AM said:
Thats because they want you to travil. lower tickets means they have a better chance of filling the plain. in the long run it pays off.

I wouldnt mind at least going for a vacation. hit a few of the parks out there.
ibluv on 2/23/2005 1:58:02 PM said:
What European parks do you most wanna go to?
mrceagle on 2/23/2005 2:22:32 PM said:
Blackpool, Tivili, Alton towers, SFH, WBMW, Euro disny and disney studios. those would be my big ones. but I would likly try to get to others.
ibluv on 2/23/2005 2:48:17 PM said:
I´d like to visit all of the above, but the only one I´m going to for sure is WBMW Madrid. I´m gonna try to plan a trip to Blackpool as well, but I don´t know if I´ll have the time.
mrceagle on 2/23/2005 4:08:02 PM said:
Ive heard Blackpool is a must visit for any coaster lover.

No way! I never would have known that... do you think that a significant drop in transatlantic air travel may have had something to do with it?

Forget the ones that mrc listed, he didnt even mention Port Aventura
mrceagle on 2/24/2005 12:42:33 PM said:
I said they are the main one I want to hit. there are dozens of other parks I would like to hit.
ibluv on 2/28/2005 4:42:51 PM said:
I´m not planning on visiting Port Aventura right now (but that may change). WBMWM is much closer to me, it´s newer, and it has more and better rides. PA has a big B&M, and that´s about all that would interest me, as its other coasters are more aimed towards family. WBMWM has one too (floorless), not to mention 3 other major coasters. I came soooo close to going to Isla Mágica this weekend, but it was closed, and even if it weren´t, it was raining, hard, in SEVILLA, which never happens. It´s smaller than other parks but it looked like a lot of fun. I wanna go back to Sevilla anyway when it´s hotter and sunny, so I hope to go to IM as well.
ibluv on 2/28/2005 5:56:53 PM said:
That coaster only goes 46mph according to rcdb, which is wicked slow for a newer coaster. The Wild West coaster at WBMWM goes 65, and it IS world-class, just not too many people know about it yet. Why don´t you create an account for yourself Anon and join the party?
mrceagle on 3/2/2005 12:41:11 PM said:
That Wild Weast coaster looks fantastic. allot of lats form teh look of it. make shore you post a trip report regadign the park and specificly this coaster.
ibluv on 3/2/2005 4:19:12 PM said:
Oh don´t worry I will. This coaster is the main reason I´m going to WBMWM cuz I luv me some good wood
mrceagle on 3/2/2005 4:35:43 PM said:
Good to hear. the trip should provewell worth it. the ntire park looks good. the Police Acadomy stunt show sounds liek fun also.

Although I won´t be going there until at least next month. I was hoping to go at the end of march but they don´t have their 05 schedule online yet and my folks are making me come home for a few weeks for Easter between trimesters, so it´ll hafta wait.

ibluv on 3/3/2005 2:25:28 PM said:
I know, but it´s a looooong flight, and I´m not even staying for 2 weeks before I hafta fly all the way back again, but hopefully WBMWM will be worth it.
mrceagle on 3/3/2005 3:04:34 PM said:
I can imagin how bad the flight much be. But have a good flight the park will be waitign for you when you get back.
