Wow this underrated coaster impresses me so much! I give Lakeside so much credit for keeping this 1940 marvel open. The first thing youll probably notice is the amazing art-deco station. The lighting flows amazingly well and the station would be an attraction in itself at any other park. Once on the train youll probably notice the fixed lap restraints and loose seat belts. Once on the ride the train goes into a dark tunnel and then starts up the lift. The first drop is a twisting drop off to the left which then throws you into another sharp left and an airtime producing hill. After that the train goes down, goes back up and to the left, then drops once again. After that the cyclone takes you out over some airtime producing hills and drops. The train then goes out over Lake Rhoda giving you an amazing view of Lakeside (try this at night, the whole park is lit up in an amzing way.) Following the gorgeous turn-around the train goes into some small airtime producing bunny hops and twists. Sadly the Cyclone soon ends with the final brake run. The most amazing thing about this ride is that the train is still stopped with manual hand brakes! If there is no or little wait you often get rerides! Even if theres a wait its never longer then five minutes and you can usually hop from the exit back to the entrance. The best part is one ride is only $1.50 and an all day pass for lakeside is $15! Sadly Lakeside is bankrupt and things dont look good for this ride. Paint cans are strewn around the track, one car is in disrepair, and the whole ride itself could use some TLC I really hope some coaster club tries to save this ACE coaster classic. I give Lakeside credit for just keeping this running with the little or no profit they have. Youll never find a ride like this at a six flags. I seriously hope lakeside keeps it open.
