Review of Magnum XL-200 @ Cedar Point

I had been afraid to ride this my whole trip because I had been told about how rough it was. I walked up to Magnum without waiting (I thought this meant that noone wanted to ride but it just had good capacity). Once on Magnum we went up the very loud chain. I was once told you could see Canada from Magnum but I was to scared to look anywhere. Our train got launched down the first drop, then over the next hill, and thrown into a drop turn element. Every time I ride Magnum I swear Ill be thrown into the lake. Magnum is really rickity but smooth its hard to explain. You feel less protected unlike other rides, maybe because its not as strong. After that I got thrown into a turnaround that seemed a little too overbanked. Magnum ends with some nice airtime producing bunny hops and turns. I enjoyed this more then many other rides at Cedar Point and I thought it was great. If you are ever near it ride this walk on.

Its so amazing that this is now a walkon ride at this park when you think about some of the lines on lesser rides.

Definitly Mantis had an hour wait, the mine train 15 minutes, MF 90 minutes, Dragster 3 hours. This ride is almost as good as those but it must be people are getting tired of it.

I rode it at least 2 dozen times over the my three days I was there in 2003. Still a great coaster.

Some of the seats are getting a tad bit rough but if you know where to sit its great. I normally sit in the middle of the car its furthest away from the wheel.

I dont necessarily think the coaster was rough. Its just that the restraints are basically metal bars covered with padding over the center of it. Bottom Line: The major ejector air at the end of Magnum...even though its fun...hurts. Me and my friends were erupting painful laughs on every bunny hill. Especially when we sat in the infamous airtime seat...the pain was multiplied even more. But, I consider it one of the qualities that makes Magnum so unique. No matter the pain, I still had the time of my life, as usual.

The most comfortable seat (for the end of the ride) is the middle car front row. It gives you the least amount of airtime but it still rocks.

I sat in the 3rd tow on Magnum, and boy... was it wild. Yes, a little rough, but I loved it.

I think the 3rd row seat was nicknamed the ejector seat or something.

the first time i rode it, it was a hot humid day, and i had a baaaaad headache, i bet you know how i felt about this ride then. It made my headache soooo much worse. but then on my second trip it was a perfect day and i felt good, so i loved the ride. the rough bunny hill are probably the best ive ever been on. Great ride.

i didnt say it wasnt smooth, it was pretty extreme and the Gs got my head hurting, plus the ejector air hurt my head too, but that was only on that day..
