A great wooden roller coaster. Worth riding if you are in the park, it is the best ride in the park. This ride is better then most wooden coasters but worse then the Cyclone (Astroland or SFNE) and the Boulder Dash.

Perhaps "not as good" would be a friendlier description, however I have to strongly disagree with saying its the lesser to the SFNE Cyclone (at least in its current emasculated condition and horrible tracking.) Hopefully Six Flags wont work their "magic" on this classic ride like so many others before it that bear their trademark.

I see no reason why not to compare wooden coasters to other woodies on reviews. If the reviewer was only on one woodie ever they might think it is the greatest, but putting it in the context of others that one has ridden helps explain ratings. If this reviewer had not been on the others he referenced he might have given The Comet a 10. I personally have given 4 woodies a ten and if someone else doesnt agree Id like to know what they view as better so I can judge for myself or know what Im missing.
