Review of Adventures of Spiderman @ Islands of Adventure
-2 Rating Posted by: ametz on 4/10/2004 12:41:00 PM
The shining gem of a boring and small park. This was really awesome and fun! I would even go so far as to say the possible future of rides to come. Be prepared, though, it will make you a little queezy if you dont go in expecting it. Its a 3-D ride that makes you really feel like youre flying and falling. Can freak you out and make ya a little sick if you dont expect it. But, heck! Ride it anyway! Its too awesome not to.

Whoa, there buddy. IGNORANCE?? Okay there genius, explain to me how I got through all of the major rides and some of the kiddie rides, most of them poorly designed and boring, in about 4 hours!? This park is a poor attempt to keep up with Disney and theyre doing a terrible job. Furthermore, as far as "the future." THEY HAVE NO FUTURE because they HAVE NO REAL ESTATE! They have lost before they ever started. Hulk...overrated. Fire, short and boring. Ice, short and boring. Jurassic Park...One fall...wow. I wish we could rate the overall park b/c Im sure IOA would rate pretty loooowwwwwww. By the way, maybe you should spend time posting your own reviews and less time analyzing others (1795 posts to 67 reviews is a pretty poor AND SAD ratio). For that matter, dont call someone ignorant until youve stepped out of Florida a little more and expnded your horizons. You seem a little biased considering your park experience is about as narrow as the Florida panhandle.

After reading some of the other reviews ametz posted, I think that they were expecting a park packed with 5-star coasters and the best thrill rides ever. ametz just doesnt look for scenery and other stuff in a park that most of us look at, and I dont know anyone who has rated IOA so poorly. Dont worry Swimace, I doubt that ametz looked at your profile before telling you to "your park experience is about as narrow as the Florida panhandle", and that just because he/she doent visit the message boards, that dosnt mean that we cant. As for DD being short- it is the 4th longest invert in the country, with only Montu, Alpengeist & Raptor being longer.

HOLD UP! Most of my posts have been in the Forum, not commenting on other peoples reviews. Ive been to parks outside of Florida, how would you know anyways? My ride tracker hasnt been updated since I joined this site. Furthermore, I bet that I know alot more than you about theme parks and roller coasters, which is why I said you were ignorant. Youre ignorant of all the great things IOA has to offer, and Im not even that big of an IOA fan. It doesnt try to keep up with Disney, it trys to stay AHEAD of Disney. If you think Universal has no future, then why are they opening a new ride in a couple of weeks? This park may not be the largest in the country, but everything it has is amazing (except for Xtreme adventure, Triceritops Encounter, and Poseidons Fury).

Poseidons Fury = Great attraction. IoA = Greatest park on earth.

Okay, first of all, Im not the one who got personal by calling someone ignorant to begin with! But, Ill be glad to finish it. I stand by the fact that Swimace has hardly ANY reviews, but for some reason calls himself more knowledgable than me. Second of all, Universal had to close an old ride (a really good one) to open the new one, genius. Sounds like a cannabalistic business approach to me. Of course, what do I know? I only have two Bachelors Degrees in Management and Marketing. Back to the point, Universal will never come even close to Disney becasue Walt was a true genius and bought up enough land to expand indefinitely. Universal will NEVER, I repeat NEVER have that freedom. Their hands are TIED! Oh, and BubFunland, I am a fan of theming along with thrills. Read my reviews and you will see that I am a huge fan of the Magic Kingdom mostly for its theming and beauty. Kennywood Park, same thing, except on a truly "classic park" level. I dont get on these ratings sites and expect to know someone personally by just reading opinions(as some obviously do). But, when people do try to make personal judgements with hardly any evidence I have no problem attempting to correct them. Sorry if it offends you. Maybe you should keep this on a prodfessional level and keep the name calling at High School.

I agree witn ametz on almost everything he said. His reviews of disney parks are spot on the money. I dont agree wit IOA being disapointing but i do agree that they did not have the foresight to get enough land. they can only get so big. The movie side of universal is in my opinion the worst themed park in the whole state. They also can only seem to build something new by destroying something old. That does not seem like good business since the park is less than 20 years old.

Just so you know Universal had about 3000 (or a lot more, cant remember the exact number) acres keeping the thought of expanding IoA or building a new park all together, but sold it after the merge. They decided to remove King Kong for RotM since it was old, and one of the least popular rides in the park. RotM will boost there attendence, which means more money. Sounds like a good buisness deal to me. Dont forget that when MK was first being built, and when they bought those acres there was almost nothing there. They had the chance to buy all that land and build on it, Universal did not, and doesnt anymore.

I do think IOA is very good but it should be because it is so new. Im worried because the other side which ten yeares ago everyone(guide books) were exclaiming how great it was but it hasnt seemed to improve. Universal should theme both sides as well as IOA and then they will have a park that will not only compete with disney this year but for 20 years.
tacoking on 5/3/2004 8:07:11 PM said:
IoA is better than any Disney park, as good as they are.

I just dont see it as better than the magic kingdom. The stuff universal has to theme is just not as timeless as disney. I cant imagine a younger kid saying no i dont want to see stich id rather ride the dudley do right ride. IOA is fantastic but no park will ever be able to grab that extra thing disney has. IOA is very fun and more thrilling but it does not make me feel like im ten years old and amazed like disney does.

IoA is fun, but no way does it compare to disney.

Yeah, IOA was soooooo much better. No comparison.

The only thing the 2 parks really have in common is fantastic theming.

ametz doesnt seem to be too wise. Disney and Universal are both great resorts, and which ever one you like better is just your opinion. Boring and small park? I dont think so. By the way, whoever mentioned it, Poseidons Fury is a great, great show.
