 Review of Thunderhead @ Dollywood
7 Rating Posted by: Cyclonic on 4/9/2004 11:16:00 PM
WOW!!! This is one great ride Dollywood has on their hands. Not only does it offer the fantastic laterals that GCII twisters are famous for, it also has great speed and spectacular airtime, both the nice floater air, as well as incredible ejector air, and on every single hill.

And it is not just the forces, it is the way in which they are introduced. Every twist and turn on this ride is different, and it has several surprises in store for the rider, interesting hops right into head choppers, or a funky flat spot in a curve that give a surprise pop of air right in a steep lateral.

Finally, even with just a few operating days under their belts, the ride crews were excellent. They were fast, efficant, and rarely allowed the two trains to stack.

This is a ride NO coaster fan should miss. GCII has really out done themselve this time. It goes right to the top of my list, and the only thing that would make it better were if it were not a ten hour drive from me.

Wow, thats really great that the employees were so good with the ride. I remember when Gwazi opened and the employees were stacking the trains horribly. Sounds like a great ride!

Yeah, I just wish that the people at S:ROS in SFNE would go that fast. It takes 6 minutse to unload/load a train!

the employees were good , it just took like 1 minute or so to load and unload the trains when i went , and its always a short line the longest ive ever waited for it is 10 minutes ,those who havent ridden it need to

The longest I waited was 8 minutes- and that was for the front. It was worth the wait.

i know what you mean i thought it was better than sitting in the back .i waited 10 minutes later in the day but when i got there at 8:20 i went in line for it and i just walked on to it and got the first ride of the day

Oh, I sat in every car within half an hour. The best value out there.

Battleflag, just a question, you said (post 6) that you got there at 8:20. The park wasnt open at 8:20 in the summer, it opens at either 9 or 10 AM, did you get in early or get some sort of ERT?

Well, to anyone who hasnt been there yet, the lines arent short because there arent a lot of visitors, the park is usually full, most people choose to hit one of about 100 shops, so the lines are short for that reason. Dont go and expect few visitors.
