Review of Viper @ Six Flags Magic Mountain
1 Rating Posted by: BobFunland on 9/4/2003 7:07:00 PM
Without the monster lift, a 6, but the height was cool. The ride was slightly rough, but Id imagine that its an Vekoma, so its almost good by their standards. Other than that, not much to talk about- a typical 10 year old coaster with bunches of inversions but nothing spectacular. But, not having to wait in line for in was cool- though I only ride it once (no need for double rides)LOL I used to be such a newbie-thusiast. Well, its an Arrow mega looper and still probably the best of the mega-loopers that I have been on. It wasnt too rough and was a fun coaster that gave an amazing view!

It was built by Arrow, not Vekoma.

actually Vekoma sitdowns with Vekoma trains are very smooth.

oh, didnt know. seemed like the ninja here at SFOG. still a little rough

Does that have Vekoma trains or Arrow trains?

is it liek the gasm?
Horizons12 on 9/9/2003 10:24:37 PM said:
Its similar but this packs 7 inversions into a small space rather than GASMs fairly large layout.

honestly, im not sure. they may have changed them when thye moved it here, i dont know.

Well, Arrow trains are more pointed looking front and Vekoma trains have have a curved front.
BobFunland on 9/11/2003 7:32:17 PM said:
then theyre Arrow trains
Horizons12 on 9/11/2003 10:52:23 PM said:
those trains are 14 years old then. time to change!

Actually, Ninjas cars really just need th wheel replaced, that would make it mcuh smoother. And it seems that the Vekoma trains are just really good trains for both Arrow and Vekoma coasters, they run on the same track, but the new Vekoma cars seem to have the wheels closer to the track, so they dont always spin freely, reducing shuffling.

YOU THOUGHT IT WAS A VEKOMA.......HOW COULD ANYONE THINK A WONDERFUL ARROW COASTER IS A VEKOMA!!!!!! IM SHOCKED!!!! The only similarity is the headbanging, which isnt really all that bad...try riding revolution in its current state.....or better yet flashback (if its running)!
BobFunland on 10/15/2003 2:19:27 PM said:
whoa, hold on. It is very similar to the Ninja at SFOG (a Vekoma), so I thought Viper was too. Plus, I said I thought that it was Vekoma, wasnt sure. I htought revolution wasnt too bad, especially being 25+ years old.

well... at least crazydude lives up to his name. LOL

Viper is no vekoma. Not by a long shot. I remember when Viper opened in 1990. All we had then were Disney coasters and smaller stuff. This loop machine was a great change from mild to thrills. Viper is the largest of the 3 arrow mega loopers. And retains the title for higest loop above the ground.

Thanx Much for that comment chetcoasta......lol. I have a story about revolution.......I found that the otsrs banged my head way too much on the helixes so I decided to keep my head plastered to one side, you know my crazy logic.....anyways....umm......it didnt work....and it resulted in my head getting thrown against the other side REALLY hard and then bouncing back and forth......I had to ride Gold Rusher 4 times in a row to get rid of the headache.....

You want your head to get banged around see flashback.lol.
Horizons12 on 10/29/2003 10:39:08 PM said:
Yeah I hear Flashback is terrible. But I bet Viper at SFGAdv is worse! lol
toaddy on 10/30/2003 9:55:32 PM said:
Well does that Viper bang your head aound into some horsecollars that are padded with some type of padding thats hard as hell, defeating the whole purpose to pad the restraint at all?
Horizons12 on 11/1/2003 12:06:00 PM said:
Yeah, Viper has a very hard rubber lining the harness. Its like banging your head against a fully inflated car tire.
toaddy on 11/4/2003 4:14:11 PM said:
A car tire is still softer than what flashbacks restraints have. Not much though.
Horizons12 on 11/5/2003 11:53:33 AM said:
Hmm, hopefully the SF ride swap program wont bring it over here. Actually, do they even have that program anymore?
toaddy on 11/7/2003 6:17:41 PM said:
Yea. But dont count on it from the dominant SF of the east and the dominant SF of the West. I dont think they will be in the ride swap program. They will not get a used one.
Horizons12 on 11/9/2003 10:21:16 PM said:
Thats true. If anything they would just dump it to Astroworld in exchange for nothing at all lol
