Review of Ripsaw Falls @ Islands of Adventure
3 Rating Posted by: Danny on 5/23/2003 11:18:00 PM
Ripsaw Falls ties with Splash Mountain as my favorite flume ride. The theming combined with the jokes, sets, art, scenery, and drops make for one great log flume! The drop in the dark is great fun and the final drop is amazing! The theming is fluent throughout the ride and really adds to the overall experience. Something that caught my attention while waiting in the queue was that the building that you enter at the bottom of the final drop literally explodes as you enter it. The walls move and the roof shakes, explaining why there is a sign near it that says "Highly Kaboomable."

One of my favorite things about Ripsaw Falls though are the jokes about Disney. At several points during the ride, Dudley or Snidely make fun of Disney. During the queue line, there are two animal heads talking on the wall and when the bear says something like, "You know, I might start a singing career. I could sing country music!", the other head replies, "Oh, whoever heard of a country bear?" On the actual ride, there is a near collision with a train, similar to a scene from Mr Toads Wild Ride. Later, Snidely is preparing to drop a boulder on Dudley. Sound a little like Snow Whites Adventures? And all throughout the queue line, there are movie posters that mock famous films, like Saw Wars, Paws, and Three Men and a Grizzly. Toward the end of the attraction, there is a scene where Snidely is behind bars and a squirrel has keys in his mouth. Anyone remember this scene from Pirates of the Caribbean?

Anyway, Dudley Do-Rights Ripsaw Falls is a wonderful log flume with great scenery and jokes that make it one incredible flume ride.

Great review, and I thought I was the only one who caught those Disney jokes....lol. I do have to disagree with one thing though, it should be your number ONE flume ever, because this ride kicks the you know what out af Splash Mountain. Honestly, in like every possible way, this ride is better.

I dont know...I like Splash Mountain a lot. I think it tells a story better...but Dudley is a much more intense flume ride. Its difficult to decide which one is better. Yet, I always end up saying Splash Mountain. Im not quite sure why.

I enjoy the Dudley storyline too, but I think Splash Mts storyline is better themed. If only some of the SM characters werent so stupid and gay...LOL

yeah, there are alot of scenes on SM that really look like they were Disney influenced (i think you know what i mean)

LOL Exactly my point DemonRules! The Brer Fox, Bear, and Rabbit story is kind of cute but do they really need a hundred other smiling and laughing AAs? I dont think so. The scenes on Dudley are funny but not detailed.

yes, and also what brer fox and rabbit and whoever else are doing to each other.....but its kinda hidden, just like it is in all the movies

Awesome review Danny... worthy of a , though I missed those little jokes. I need to ride it again and pay attention, and I will gladly ride this baby again

I got those jokes, but I never put them all together to think about how many there were. I remember going under the boulder and thinking "hey this is like Snow White" and going under the train and thinking "this is like Mr. Toads Wild Ride (RIP)". The Pirates Of The Caribbean is pretty obvious, being that its one of the most famous dark ride scenes ever.
