Submitted By: mrceagle on 2/10/2002 10:25:00 AM
Yesterday SFNE released that the name of the new floorless coaster will be Batman: Dark Night. They clam that the coaster will be a first of its kind with a revolutionary design. Their will be 5 inversions. Two loops a live loop and two corkscrews. Whether or not they plan to extend the area into a Gothem City themed area was not released.

Over the past several years the New England theme park has undergone extensive expansion in the form of world-class rides, attractions and new themed sections. The expansion has featured four roller coasters including Superman-Ride of Steel, the tallest roller coaster on the East Coast, standing 221 feet above the earth. Superman-Ride of Steel was voted the ``#1 Roller Coaster on the Planet by Park World Magazine in 2000 & 2001. Other coaster additions include Poison Ivys Twisted Train, Flashback and the Mind Eraser, all steel coasters featuring hair-raising twists and turns.

Yea Coster RD, I feel the same way. I think it's great that Six Flags has added so much to the park these past two years, but I still can't believe what they did to Cyclone. I drove by the park the other day, two things stuck out. First, Superman just dominates the park, as it should. Even being way in the back on land that's the lowest elevation of the park, it stands like a king over it's dominion. I forgot how big that thing is. Second, there's Cyclone up by the road, waiting to welcome visitors for another season, and your eye wanders the track and you see that shortened first drop with the old track still below it. Almost makes you wish Six Flags never took over, but then we wouldn't have Superman.

The design id with out a doubt one of the most compact coaster ever designed by B&M. The first drop is steeper then normal. It looks to be at lest 75- 85 degrees by the look of the video and the diagrams. 2600 feet on track on a plot a land around 2400 square feet, around one foot of track per foot of space available. There is also a large clip factor something that B&M isn’t exactly known for.
