Stratosphere Vote Fails

Somehow I missed this, but the city voted down the appeal for the new thrill ride off the massive tower in vegas.

In the end, it was the projects aesthetic quality, along with the concerns of nearby residents, that prompted Chairman Craig Galati to cast the deciding vote against the project. He said the decision was the most agonizing hes faced in four years on the commission.

"The Stratosphere is an icon, representative of the purity of architecture that this city has not seen before," Galati said.

Adding a thrill ride to the side of the tower would detract from that purity, said Galati and others who voted against it.

Shame to see it voted down.

What a shame. I bet we will see this design pop up somewhere else in the near future. Once you put an idea out there, someone will make it happen.

it does not look ugly, i've seen so many pics of it, however the commision agreed with you guysthey said it was ugly, and would disturb the skyline. its the stratospheres, i say they deserve to do it anyway. i think the stratosphere should turn into a rage against the machine REBELL!!! tear down the stratosphere! We don't need it, that'll show them! Anyway, the commision will get to hear Arrow Dynamics again trying to get an awesome ride here in vegas later this month. STUPID HOMEOWNERS! ohhhhhh yeah, while it would have taken me years to build up the courage to ride this monster, it would have done more than just thrill...It would have brought business to our needy downtown.
