Manta Rumored for May 2009

There's no reference to where this information is coming from, but I gots no problem posting it.
SeaWorld Orlando is narrowing down -- and moving up -- the time frame for the debut of its Manta roller coaster. Officials now say it will be ready in the month of May -- no specific date revealed yet. Previously, the theme park had said it would be opening in the summer of 2009.

The rail for the coaster, which will have riders in a flying position under a giant ray built into the car and above water and other hazards, has been completely in place since late December. Now work is being done on the queue and its accompanying aquarium feature -- things like filtration.

The coaster cars and an official teaser video are expected next month.
That's pretty much the whole blog post, so take it for what you will.

I just found out yesterday that the track is completed...looks like it'll be a pretty good coaster, it'll be interesting to see what "interactive" elements (water, etc.) they add to the experience. Here's a overview of the layout:

It's interesting that Sea-World is putting up a new track but we've seen nothing really new and big at IOA in years.

Hopefully that will change with the addition of the Harry Potter area in the next couple of years. You make a good point though...almost every other park in the country seems to have made some major addition since IoA last did, including the other Orlando parks and even Universal Studios next door.
