Cedar Point. America’s Roller Coast. "It’s Absolutely Amazing!" You’ve all probably heard some of these descriptions in the ads for the resort destination that sits on a peninsula that juts into Lake Erie. Well, let me tell you, these are absolutely correct, and frankly they only begin to describe the mecca of amusement that is Cedar Point! Until I go somewhere to change my mind (such a place may not exist), then I will go on record as saying that Cedar Point is simply the BEST amusement park in existence, period. Everything about this place, in my book, is world-class. The setting is picturesque, the employees are friendly and efficient, and then there is the greatest collection of roller coasters on the planet. 16 scream machines in one park (more realistically 14, unless you have children) is just astounding!! As a coaster enthusiast, this place is paradise! Unparalleled coaster riding nirvana!! This was my 3rd consecutive year going to CP, and I vow not to miss a year for the foreseeable future – the place is that great. Now, on to the trip report!

We left on Saturday morning (7/3) at around 5:30 am to go pick up the family friends that were going with us. We picked them up, and were on the road by about 6:15. Traffic, for a holiday weekend, was light, which was a very pleasant surprise. That made the trip out there all the better. At about 9:30, I made the right turn off of Rt. 6 onto that wonderful Cedar Point Causeway. Every time I go to CP, one of my favorite parts is that initial drive up the causeway when I arrive. That sight of the coasters coming into view after rounding the last little bend is still awe-inspiring and just brings the biggest smile to my face! Awesome!!! There wasn’t too long of a wait at the toll booths, and then we were off driving the road that loops around the park. Always very cool to drive alongside and underneath Millennium Force’s gigantic first hill! By 10:00, we were parked at the Breakers and heading inside to get tickets (I didn’t need those because of my Dorney Season Pass, so there was quite an urge just to run inside the park....)

Saturday’s weather was absolutely fantastic from start to finish! Temps were in the upper 70s to low 80s with a pleasant mixture of clouds and sunshine. The biggest surprise of the whole trip came on Saturday. Much to my delight, the crowds were actually rather light! My riding partner for the trip was in awe when we walked through the Magnum gate and he saw the towering single hill of Top Thrill Dragster. I too still just say "Wow!!!" when I stand at the base of that thing and look up. What an amazing structure to behold! TTD was down and being worked on when we entered. So, we went over to Millennium to get a FreeWay stamp, as it was now around 10:45. I think this system is great and well executed by the CP folks.

After then grabbing lunch, the riding kicked off with the Red side of Power Tower. This ride rocks!! I now only ride the red side. Both sides are great, but the airtime at the top from the space shot is just insane! Plus, for whatever reason, that line is always much shorter. Then we followed the back-to-front plan. I’ve done this every year I have went and I highly recommend it! You get near walk-ons on all the coasters in the back (except for Millennium, of course) and then by the time you get to the front you continue this pattern as the good 80% or more of the people are now in the back of the park, having started from the main gate and worked their way back.

Lines were extremely managable Saturday. The longest wait we encountered the whole day was about 1 hour for TTD. Yes, that’s right, I was lucky enough to up my lap count on this incredible creation! After dinner, we headed back towards TTD, being that we had noticed it launching trains now rather consistently. The sign out front said 2 hours, but we were on in half that time, and that was with a queue area that was about 7

Really, really great trip report! I love that you provided an overall experience, and then listed the park's aspects, and individual rides. Very, very well done - and that TTD description - beautiful.

Double post. ^ (In case you couldn't tell .)

Awesome TR, one of the best I've read. I'm glad I'm going in less than 2 weeks, I don't think I could wait much longer than that after reading your TR.

Ya, I like how Cyclonic includes pictures with his TR's. It's not that I don't have the pics either, I took like 100 over the 2 days there....although they're 35mm pics, so I don't know how (I don't have a scanner) to get them posted! Some of my pics intertwined with my TR would be pretty sweet!!
