Today we took a half-day visit to ValleyFair.
We arrived at 9:45 and pulled into the parking lot (front row!). Got into the holding area just in time for the national anthem. We got in and headed straight for Steel Venom.
It was my sister's first ride (too short last year) so we sat in the sixth row. The snake strikes again! My sister didn't exacly like it (crazy head) so we headed on.
Next ride was Wild Thing. Two quick walk-ons as it was still 10:15. The trims seemed to be on more then normal because I seem to remember more airtime in the tunnel.
We decided to work our way twards Excalibur. We stopped for a quick ride on High Roller (still walkons). I endeed up last row and regreted it as I slammed into the sides on the twisting second drop and both turn-arounds. Next was Mad Mouse (first line!) Same as always. One side note: It seems odd that all other coasters were only running half trains yet the mouse was running all eight cars and was the only one with a line. Hmmm... We headed up to excalibur only to be told that part of the park didn't open for 10 minuets. It was still 10:50!!! So we took a quick ride on the looping starship and had lunch at Stadium Pizza.
Excalibur was running better then I'd seen it in a long time. Only rough part was that ground hugging turn right after the second drop. Three quick rides (more walk-ons) then back to the middle of the park for Corkscrew and whatever we might hit on the way.
Quick ride on the swings then off to Corkscrew. Here's where we ran into lines. They were still only running one train so the line was over-flowing the queve. After waiting fiffteen minuetes we were in the station when they had to add the second train from the transfer track. That took about 10 minuets. Much head-banging as always on this ride. When we got off the queve was almost empty (shows the difference between one train and two). Quick ride on Wave to cool down then back to Steel Venom for two front row rides. Then we rode Tribant, Scrambler, Bumpers, and Supercat to use up our last hour as we didn't have time for Power Tower.
Great day at ValleyFair with short lines. I'll be back last week of July (to get ready for Cedat point).

Valleyfair and Worlds of Fun both look like nice parks if you're in the area, but they certainly aren't destination parks...

Yeah.....now all VF need is a monster invert and a hotel, and a floorless, and a rocket, and a flyer, and a top spin. After they get those people from Badger Country might come

I live in Virginia but Valleyfair is one of my top 5 parks, up there with Cedar Point. The reason? Just what you were talking about.
Good Rides
Short Waits!
