Hey, all - I was just thinking...do you have any little tradition that you honor anytime you go to a park? For example: whenever we go to one, my husband and I MUST stop by a photo booth, and take a set of silly photos. No matter what. And when we go to a park that doesn't have a photo booth, it's very disappointing. So - do you have any little rituals?

heh.. that's actually a cool topic. I have to say everytime I go to IOA it's either Hulk or Dragons depending on wait time... hrmm... and I we always leave the park to eat at city walk...

Lately though I've been trying to pick up a mug from all the parks I visit..

I like the photobooth idea.. heh. .neat idea.

BTW, I'm transferring this to the other discussion

I always eat at the Midway Market while at CP, guess you can consider that a ritual, lol. I also pray before a visit to a major park for good weather and short lines, most of the time it's worked.

What if they don't have photos for your favorite coaster but they do for other coasters in the park.

At Knoebels, the first thing we always do is eat under those spinning roof eating places for Lunch. Then go to the Haunted Mansion after that. We always do that to start the day at Knoebel. We also always eat Dinner at that place where the floor is filled with tree stumps.

When I go to Keansburg Amusement Park I always eat at a counterside burger place called Nickersons first then immidiately go on Chaos. I have never gotten sick yet but maybe I shouldn't press my luck.

I always stop at this one arcade and play Galaga.

And I always get some zeppoles before leaving.

I'm the opposite, I pray for rain... nothing clears out a themepark like a little drizzle, in which case I whip out my super cool rain coat and procede to ride everything with half the wait times

I agree, a little rain scares away the crowds, but it can sometimes lead to heavy rain, which shuts down the coasters.

well, not really traditions, just..oddities. First, no matter how we estimate how long the drive will take, we always don't make it up there until dark for some reason, and EVERY YEAR, it happens to downpoor as start to get stuff unpacked, so we always end up setting up tents in the rain and in the dark, lol. It wouldnt be the same without it, though we're leaving much earlier this year. Another small thing is every time we go/have went to knoebels somewhere along the way my dad, brother, and I get to that shooting gallery near the Lazer Runner place, and my mom takes a picture of us. A week afterwards when the pictures are being put into an album, we sit around and discuss how stupid it was that we always seem to get pictures of us just standing there with out backs turned. Never fails, it happens the fallowing year anyway. Coaster/flume photos are another yearly thing...

I also take a handful of park maps at the end of the day and buy a souvenir map if the park sells them(they're those huge maps). I end up throwing away all the park maps except one within a few days though, lol. I've bought a CP souvenir map every year since 97.

I also get a turkey leg sometime during the day if the park sells them.

I too take a couple of park maps. Another ritual I have is that I always bring the same backpack. When I go on the coasters, I always put the backpack on the exit side of the station. I'll never go on a coaster with a hat on, even if it is a kiddie coaster. I also save my ticket stubs, as they're good souvenirs.

I usually stop at a store close to the park and buy a bottled iced tea and bag of beef jerky. I drink the iced tea on the way into the park and the beef jerky ends up in my pocket.

we always have to go on the log flume or the Splash boat thing 3 times in a row before we go on the biggest roller coaster at the park 2 times to dry off

Uggh, amusement park shirts. Like shopping at a thrift store, only paying more.

Amusement park shirts never seem to fit right. They're either too big or too small, and unless they're sweatshirts, they're usually uncomfortable.

They're cheaply made, that's the problem.

The only cool T-shirt I ever bought at a park is my trusty Steeplechase shirt from the boardwalk at Coney - the best, and only $6.

I just remembered my old ritual at PKI - any time I went there as a teen, which was about 3-4 times a week, I'd start the day by riding the carousel, and end it by buying a big bag of caramel corn. A great plan!!!

Call me crazy, but everytime I go to BGW, I always stand at the pathway to used to lead to Drachen Fire and just think about it for a minute or so. I also take home park maps and I always ride flats after I eat to avoid severe nausea.

--------------------
Coasters are the highlights of theme parks. Flat rides are the supporting cast.

OK. At Knoebels I eat the Rib BBQ from the Potato Barn and eat it under the spinning roofs. Then I go to Haunted Mansion. Another one is I make my first and last ride the Phoenix, try to ride each roller coaster at least 4 times, and I take home the maps and brochures if they have them there.

I usually go to amusement parks with the same person, and she and I undertake this ritual no matter where we go...First thing we do is find the "Wack a Mole" game and go head to head in a friendly "grudge match" for a few rounds!

I always show up an hour early to the park, and walk a lap around the parking lot. I also dead sprint to the best coaster.

I always buy a t-shirt at amusement parks I visit but my collection is getting too large now so I have to start collecting something else. Any suggestions. I have a collection of books, t-shirts, mugs, pins, and videos already.
