Finally, the BIG trip of the summer has arrived for me. MGM was a nice warm-up, but tomorrow, I begin my trip to California (Im not driving, but Its gonna take me a few days cause Im stoppin to visit family on the way out). Wendsday and Thursday are gonna be spent at Magic Mountain- Im finally gonna ride X after waiting 2 years (God I hope its open on Thurs.). Anyway, I dont know if the hotel has computers but Ill definately give a review of the park and the rides when I get back in 2 weeks.
I wanna visit Belmont Park too- I always wanted to ride a woodie near the beach and its only 1 of 2 on the west coast.

Have fun. Warning crowds might suck. It was pretty bad on yesterday. Although they are running X in an effective line now. Even with one train operation, I only waited an hour and a half. They stoped piling a ton of people into the station. Now they only let in like 8 people per roe total which is good. No more of this unorganized mass of people that take one an hour to get on the ride while inside the station.

Im finally home... what a trip!
Actually, Belmont is in Mission Beach, so you counted the same one twice. When I went, the lines wertent long (other than X, the longest line was about 30mins (Goliath). I got lucky and only waited about an hour for X cause it opened 2hours later than the park- and that was for the front seat even. The park was pretty good, it featured a great selection of rides, but the scenery was average as was the food/staff etc. Deja Vu was closed (apparently for the year), and X was still running only 1 train. But still, 4 coasters made my Top 10, including X, which has become my favorite coaster! TTD and MF have some serious competition in X, but Ill see next year.
I didnt spend much time at Belmont Park, basically just enough to ride the Giant Dipper twice and visit the historical museum. What a ride- seriously, its the best woodie Ive ever ridden- It was actually fairly smooth and incredibly fun, not even mentioning the view of the ocean.
Also, I visited Sea World, and it looks like they are building a new ride/attraction. It looked like coaster supports, but there are also supports that look like those of a water slide, so who knows.

How many coasters at MM did you get on? Was Flashback open? How rough is Psyclone?

Oh, oops. I'm thinking of the Santa Monica pier. What's even worse is they don't even have a coaster there.lol. Don't know what was going through my head.lol. They opened X 2 hours later? That's weird. Usually it's just 30-45 min. Which they do that to try and spread some crowds out. Otherwise they are paying employees for the other coaster operations without any guests. You didn't like the scenery? I've always liked the waterfall and the mountain side. I don't know if Vu is closed for the year. Last I saw it the seats had been removed from the train. I'll find out soon, when I get into contact with my friend again that works there.

Please tell me you got into the water at Mission Beach. That beach is my personal favorite beach. I love it. Good surf, tons of women, and the only thing women usually walk around shopping for is bikinis. That coaster is good, but the Giant Dipper up north is better. Course the beach is crap up north so it evens out.lol. You're referring to Journey to Atlantis (I think). I'm not sure what it is. Either a water coaster or a flume. It's fate is undecided right now. The stupid environmentalists are trying to stop the construction because it's on some type of ground that they want protected. I hope the ride goes through. Dumb morons.

Flashback only opens when Hurricane is closed and a good size crowd is at the park. If it's small crowds people ride the coasters they actually like instead of on a crowded day when they want a break from long lines.
Well considering that this was B&M's 1st attempt at wood, and they havn't touched the idea since, you do the math.lol.

I don't think B&M actually designed the ride, they just use B&M trains.

Psyclone was wicked rough! A little extreme as far as Im concerned.

Santa Monica has a small steel coaster (no inversions or anything, just a par of helixes and a dip), and when I went to SD, I stayed with cousins inland and on Coronado.

You know I meant the trains. And even so, if B&M did make a wood structure, would it be different? No one can change the wooden formula. Granted Inatamin's got their new track designs but that didn't exist in 91 when this ride was built. It's the trains that delivered the ride experience. And for some reason I'm finding the older the wood coaster is the better. All the new woodies seem to age horribly and start to get overlyrough. I'll take the 1924 Giant Dipper over the 1991 Psyclone in a heartbeat.

Flashback actually was a B&M. It was when they were still under Inatamin. The ride uses the box section along with 4 seater cars. One of, if not the first rollercoaster to have this kind of capacity. So it's pretty clear that Inatamin didn't do much of this ride.

FYI, B&M doesn't make their own track.

Stop getting technical. You know what I mean. Are you so much of a nerd I actually have to reword it ,USE the same track that G-tech fabricates for all of B&M rides? That's what English majors correct everyone all the time. And nobody like English majors because of that. So don't do it.
