Hey ya'.ll! This year'.s new coasters brought so'.em new to the amusement industry & in return, got a lot of praise & approval from new riders & coaster enthusiasts alike. Now this year, we have some interesting prospects that include the following:

Flying Turns - flying turns coaster at Knoebels
Diamondback - B&M hyper at Kings Island
Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit - innovative coaster at Univesal Studios Florida
Prowler - GCI wooden twister at Worlds of Fun
Manta - B&M flying coaster at SeaWorld Orlando
Termainator: the Coaster - GCI wooden twister at Six Flags Magic Mountain

Out of these coasters (and those I didn'.t mention), which ones are ya'.ll looking forward to riding the most? Personally, I want to see Knoebels FINALLY having the balls to open the Flying Turns. That coaster'.s been on slate for the past two years. I understand that the coaster design hasn'.t been built in over 30 years & that it needs to abide by today'.s ride safety regulations, but I just want to see what this thing can do. Also, I might be able to make a trip out to Kings Island to ride Diamondback (it'.ll only work if I get accepted by Pitt for transfer). The design'.s similar to Nitro, but I expect this monster to give me yet another airtime driven experience that will make me want to ride again & again.

Probably diamondback, though the idea of another trip to KI makes me throw up in my mouth a little. Overall a very weak year.

If it actually opens I woudl say flying turns. Diamondback in general. Though teh only one I will likely get on is wild mouse at Funtown.

Hasn't Flying Turns been in the 'Most Anticipated 200x coaster" threads for the past three years?

eh, the only one I have any real chance of riding would be Manta or the Universal coaster - I'd probably choose the latter

I'd be lying if I said anything other than Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit.

ya Flying turns has been a bit want to ride since it was announced.

The Hollywood Rip,Ride, Rocket is one of the least impressive in the list.

Universal always seems to deliver, whether it be with the ride itself or whatever they happen to surround the ride with.

I would agree with most of teh attractions I have read and seen pictures on. The coaster itself doesn't look that impression. Not sure how the music controls will really help the coaster.

I haven't even heard of the rip ride and rockit one!

I'd need to say Diamondback.

Of the list I definitely think Diamondback is going to be the best coaster of '09. I love Apollo's Chariot and I have never heard any bad things about B&M hypers so I can only assume it will be another air-time filled ride.

Of the list though, as mrc said, realistically the only one I will probably get to ride is Funtown's new Wild Mouse and possibly the Flying Turns if I'm really lucky.

I'm going to be doing some traveling with my new job - a lot of traveling - so I'm thinking of booking a business trip somewhere in Ohio that will allow me to get to King's Island to ride Diamondback. It is kind of a lackluster year in the industry due to the economy, and the new B&M takes it for me.

I've watched Manta go up as a Sea World AP holder and I'm still thrilled with the way Rockit is coming together as a Universal AP holder. I saw a little bit of Diamondback earlier in the summer when I was at Kings Island and after seeing some more recent construction pics I think that should be pretty good.

I'm sure I'll ride Manta and Rockit, and I'll most likely ride Diamondback. If Cliffhanger opens this year and you count that as a new coaster then I'll ride that one as well. If I had to pick just one though, I'd certainly pick Rockit.

I think that Diamondback, Manta, Rockit, and Prowler all look impressive, along with several new coasters overseas (Fireball, Blue Fire, and iSpeed, just to name a few).

As for most anticipated though, I'm going with Diamondback. I've driven by it, and it has forever changed the skyline at KI as it towers over the front part of the park. I've never been to KI, but that's almost certain to change this summer!

Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit or Manta

I'll also be getting on Diamondback.. but I've never been a fan of B&M Hypers. I've heard good things from Behemoth.. but we shall see.

^ Which ones have you been on? I assume you've at least been on my favorite coaster, Apollo, since you've been on Alpengeist, but what other ones as well?

I've heard that B and M's hyper coasters have gotten more intense with each newer one, especially in Goliath and Behemoth.

Diamondback isn't new, It's being moved from another Cedar Fairs park in Ohio. They are just repainting it to make it look new.

^ I think you may be confusing Diamondback with Dominator. Diamondback is new this year, but Dominator, which previously resided at Geauga Lake in Ohio, was moved to Kings Dominion in Virginia last year.

It feels like I've been waiting for Flying Turns to open for half my life...that is unquestionably the most anticipated coaster this year for me. The only other two on the list at parks I have a snowball's chance in hell of getting to are Grove's Alpine Tours at Busch Gardens Europe (which I'll ride due to my compulsion to ride everything, although I'm otherwise not interested because it's a kiddie) and Wild Mouse at Funtown Splashtown USA (although I think the pictures I've seen make it the same prefab that DelGrosso's has).

May I also add that, as it is my local "major park" (I disown Six Flags America ), I am so excited that Kings Dominion seems on track (pun intended ) to get a giga coaster, as such parts have been delivered to the site recently. That's certainly not a 2009 project, but if Flying Turns finally opens, that will be my most anticipated coaster of 2010.
