On Sunday I made my last stop at a park this year, a visit to IB for the second consecutive year. In 2007, I went alone, but this time I went with my family. The park was DEAD, moreso than I had personally seen at any other park. Our longest wait of the day was about 5 minutes...generally speaking, it was one-cycle waits all day. If I had been by myself, I would probably ".marathoned". the coasters more, as they were letting you stay in your seat if there was no one waiting for your row, but being with the group we never really took advantage of that. We did get two rides in a row on the double shot, at which point I got to hear an interesting conversation between the veteran ride ops about the necessity of having enough weight on the ".car". so that enough pressure can build up to deliver a good launch. Our first ride was anticlimactic, with little airtime, so they decided to keep us on the ride and give it another go.
With my newfound appreciation for wood this year, Cornball and Hoosier were better to me this time than they were on my first visit, although they are still not as amazing to me as they are to some others (esp. CE). Nevertheless, they are both at least average woodies, and they both have good settings. Steel Hawg is a short but unique coaster, LCoSM is still a lot of fun going backwards, and Tig'.rr and Galaxi are both surprisingly powerful given their small size. Gotta love the lack of restraints on Tig'.rr too.
All in all, it was a fun day, with very warm weather for mid-October (low 80s). Although it is far from my favorite park, IB can still provide a solid day of fun, and its relatively short distance from my house (a little longer than 2 hours) means that it is pretty easy to fit into a day. Check out the reviews section over the next couple of days, as I hope to finally get my reviews posted for this park (I never did after my first trip). Thanks for reading!
