Sometime in late August I'll be heading down to Orlando to visit Disney World and Universal Studios and their parks. Any tips and advice on the best days to go to each of the parks and what waits will be and how to avoid them.

Also, which of the Disney coasters or Universal coasters let you choose or wait for a seat? What are the best seat on each of the major coasters?

Lastly, if I have time, I might try one of the Disney water parks. Which one is better- Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon? Right now I'm leaning towards Blizzard Beach, but I just want input.

As I recall, {pretty much] all of the Disney coasters have assigned seating. For Universal, the opposite is true with the Mummy being the exception.

Expect to wait a while, but in the past. I've found the later in August, the better it seems to be with so many schools starting off earlier and earlier. Which reminds me.. get to the park earlier, and knock out a lot of stuff early, and you may be able to head out in the mid-afternoon heat and enjoy your hotel, pool or whatever (if you want)

Also, at Disney, visiting a park in the morning/afternoon that has Extended Magic Hours is a good idea, since most resort guests will be elsewhere for that reason.

I sleep, drink beer, and ride coasters. That is a summary of my life.

Disney also is giving away free dinning plans in late august if you are staying on site. I would look in to it.

^ I didn't book through Disney so I can't take advantage of that unfortunately. I did save a lot though so that makes up for it.

Thanks for the info. I'm not too surprised about Disney, but I'm glad about Universal.

Also, would I be able to get on Pteranodon Flyers? The ride looks unique and I wouldn't be going with someone under 56 inches. Would they change that rule during later August when it's less crowded?

FYI - Disney has assigned seating, but if you really want a specific seat, you can ask the CM assigning seats.

Typhoon Lagoon is themed much better Blizzard Beach, IMHO, but Blizzard Beach has more rides. Your choice.

If you go first thing in the morning, you can ride. Its a really poor ride.. very short and slow. Nice views though, I guess.

If you don't care about seeing the parade at the Magic Kingdom - that is a good time to get some rides in with shorter lines.

At least a lot of the queues (if not entire attractions) are enclosed. As for lines.. they can be pretty bad, but at least they give you options to skip them

I know that it will be tame and essentially a kiddie coaster, but it is unique and I think it would be worth riding.
