I'll be in edison NJ on thursday august 16th. I plan to get to Great Adventure at opening. I can spend a maximum of 4 hours in the park. Is it unrealistic to hope to get on, kingda ka, el toro, and nitro in just 4 hours?

Thanks.

To tell you the truth, I think it'll be impossible to ride the three star attractions in just four hours. You could probably ride El Toro & Nitro during that time period, but even during the beginning of the day, Kingda Ka will probably have at least a 45 - 1 1/2 hour wait.

Very possible. Don't listen to RC. If you are there at opening it could be a go. You just have to hope that El Toro and Kingda Ka are ready at that time as sometimes they are still testing when the park opens.

I was able to ride Nitro and El Toro twice a piece before noon on a day last August, and El Toro didn't even open until 11am!

I think its totally do-able.

I agree with Herc on this one, all depends on when the rides open. Are your 4 hours limited to the AM, the last 4 hours of the day in the park might provide better opportunities.

Also, do you have a SFEG season pass. SFGAdv lets season pass holders (All SF seson passes) in the park 1 hour early and they open 1 or 2 coasters Monday-Thursday.

Sounds like a challenge Worth shoting for. Apparently there are Single rider lines on many of the coaster now. so I would Get into on that before going. They will gut out allot of wait time.

There are single rider lines now? Is this true? I haven't been to the park this year.

Also if you have a parking sticker on your pass it should work at SFGadv - that's what visitors from other SF Parks have said. My parking pass worked at SFAmerica . However, the parking policy is not stated anywhere so consider it a lucky bonus if it happens.

Regarding single riders lines at SFGAdv - never seen them. I was last there in late June and there was no such animal.

Good luck with the parking thing. Like Larry said, it would be a bonus because I don't believe that is the policy. If it works though, that would be 15 dollars saved.

I didn't think they would have single rider lines. Thanks for clarifying Larry.

I kid you not, Scott, I once spent 90 minutes looking for my car in SFGAdv's 6000-acre parking lot. You better factor in time for that as well.

There might be single riders for the major coasters like Batman, Superman, and Nitro because there are single rider lines on quite a few of Six Flags New England's coasters (Pandemonium, Superman, Mind Eraser, Batman).

Sorry... I don't have a parking pass for sfeg. The city has meters located less than a block away from the park, and they are free on weekends. Why waste money on a pass?

ok, one last thing. Mapquest tells me that it should be about an hour from Edison. Should I add traffic into my travel time, or will the roads not be that busy?

60 minutes is about right with traffic. Is Mapquest telling you to take the New Jersey Turnpike (I95) or the Garden State Parkway. It is unlikely that you would hit traffic on the GSP on a weekday going south, however the New Jersey Turnpike is more susceptible to traffic during rush hours on a weekday. The distance should be the same (give or take 5 miles) but I would take the Garden State Parkway to I-195 West to the Six Flags exit, just to be on the safe side.

You might as well plan on being 30 minutes early. In the one mile between the exit from I-195 and Six Flags they are places you can stop and get some quick food if you are early.

Yes, i think you can do all the 3 attractions in 4 hours. (If kingda ka is open for at least 8 trains at the beginning of the day) Here's what you gotta do: Head straight to kingda ka, the line when i was there at the beginning of the day was a walk on to the station. So i got on it once and afterwards i scanned my gold flash pass and walked right back into the station, but right as i was going to get on a 2nd time it broke down, so kingda ka has bad reliability, ride it first thing. Then you should probably head towards el toro. (considering it's so close to kingda ka) That line shouldn't be too bad since you're going on a weekday. After that if you want to get in Nitro for sure, head towards there. And then you would have ridden all those 3 attractions in approxamately 1-3 hours, leaving you left with 1 hour. (Hopefully) Have fun and good luck.

GADV was awesome. I was able to get into the park an hour early thanks to larry's advice.

In the first 60 minutes I was able to ride:

Kingda Ka
SUF
El Toro (3 times!!)
Nitro

Thanks for all the advice!!

That's great, Scott. I take it this was all without spending your college fund on a Kryptonite Q-Bot? I look forward to your reviews.
