i'm a huge busch gardens europe fan. i go there just about every summer and now that griffon is ready to go i was wondering what you guys think will be the next major thing at busch gardens. it has been rumored that a new country could be coming in 09, what do you guys think?

I think this sounds like speculation and we have a forum for that.

i don't know about what busch gardens should do, but me personally, i was thinking about building my own turkish themed area across the street from busch gardens europe and then trying to apply for membership in park...

but of course they would deny me every time...

Meh, probably just a couple new shows, Griffon is a major enough addition to last us a few years. When did apollo open? Wasn't that 1999? 8 years between coasters, hopefully they don't makes us wait THAT long though.

I'd be surprised if they built another coaster within the next 5 years

i agree it will be years before we see the next big coaster. but there have been rumors that they are talking on expanding and putting in a new country and maybe the new country's major ride would be a water coaster since anheiser busch has had great success with journey to atlantis at sea world. also they have been discussing about removing the le scoot log flume ride. it was the ride that at first was gonna be removed for griffon but they then decided the le mans raceway had better land to fit griffons layout. if they do eventually tear down le scoot maybe they will get a bigger and better themed log ride in the new country. the new country is rumored to be spain.

I seriously don't think that BGE needs another world-class coaster for a long time. Right now, they're in desperate need of a huge overhaul of flats across the park. A drop tower would be a nice addition & it could be themed as people falling right out of the Alps Mountains.

So, is BGE at the point where they can't expand and have to close something to get something new?
They still have the old Drachen Fire area, right?
BGE seems to be surronded by... nothing, besides the Brewery, at least that's the way it seems when your on the tops of the coasters. You'd think that they would be easily able to purchase that land, or perhaps new rides is just an excuse to get rid of old rides that they don't feel like putting forth the money needed to upgrade them, or rides with too high insurance costs. I am VERY suprised that they still have a Skyway. This is the only park I've been to that still has one. Not even Disney has one anymore.

busch has room to expand. if you have ever ridden the rhine river cruise you know they have plenty of room cause they own all the land along the rhine. they do still have the drachen fire lot and much more beyond the train tracks back there. i am scared though that they will not expand and tear down classics like big bad wolf and le scoot and maybe even nessie.

I doubt they will get rid of what most people think are the two best older Arrow Coasters ever.

I can't stand starting speculation when it is still the year of a new, big name attration. I will wait to ride Griffon before I wonder what is coming next.

I've heard rumors of a possible new coaster in 2009 or 2010...and personally I wouldn't be surprised. It probably will be a family-coaster though, hopefully very highly themed. Although, if BGA does indeed get the rumored B&M Mega in '09, perhaps it will be sooner than we expect for the next big coaster at BGE...

fergusonat since you also like busch gardens europe a lot what do you think of the future for rides like big bad wolf, loch ness monster, and le scoot? do you think they have a lot of years left in them or do you think the park will scrap them soon? also when do you think the next country will come since i have been hearing rumors about that and what do you think the next country will be?

Loch Ness Monster is a park icon...it's not going ANYWHERE. It still runs great and there is absolutely no need to remove it. As for Big Bad Wolf, I also do not foresee its reign of fright through the Bavarian village coming to an end anytime soon. It's a classic!

Le Scoot's future may be more shortlived, however...but who the heck knows...I sure as crap don't. In my opinion, BG has plenty of room to expand, and they really don't need to be removing any other attractions.

As for the next country, I bet it will be Spain. No idea when that would happen, though

thats good to hear you don't think those old coasters are going anywhere. in my opinion big bad wolf and loch ness monster are busch gardens cuz they have been there forever. if le scoot got taken out i would be sad its a classic in my opinion. if they take it out do you see them putting in another flume?

I think the flume is a necessity at BGE. It gets so humid in that area of Virginia and flumes are good for families, which flock to BGE.

agreed. i think it would be foolish to remove the log flume because it is so hot in virginia. le scoot usually has one of the longest lines to because it is so family friendly. but if it was removed i hope they would put up a new one somewhere maybe even good enough to rival splash mt., and dudley. and in that case escape from pompeii for best water ride in the park.

I would like to see the flume stay it's allot of fun and not really in the way.

The park has room to expand and I think if they add a country Spain is likely the choice. There really isn't another European country worth using. I think we'll see a coaster in the new area I personally would like to see a wood coaster.

But like So many said we'll likely not see anything till 2010. but I would like to see BGW expanded before BGT gets yet another coaster.

I think Russia would be the easiest to add from a theming/immersion standpoint. Russia is fairly rich in history, tradition, and stereotypes that could be used.

stereotypes...i.e. drunk ride ops, uncooperative employees going "missing", complicated bureaocracy (bizarre paperwork, under the table "tips" to employees) involved in just setting one foot inside the theme area, all of the money going towards one photogenic ride and the rest of the area looking run down and crappy...

I personally don't see Russia coming anytime soon, but hey...I could be wrong. Spain just seems like it would fit the BGE profile better, IMO: Western Europe, very classy, very easy to theme to, and recognizable to most everybody

Keep in mind BGW/BGE's original name was The old Country. so the country's used should be the most established country in which Immigrants came from. while there is many Smaller countries within Europe many of there are similar or are not really worth using.

Russia is an interesting idea but I don't see it working. Sol;id architecture and some History but I don't see them Really havning much to theme. Maybe a higher speed new car ride (Arms Race). there just isn't much there.

Iceland is empty and Most of Europe is smaller country with out much to work off of. Greece is out because most of the possible theme are worked into Italy.

The reason I threw out Russia is becasue the park is currently all Western Europe. Also, who wouldn't want a Rasputin The Mad Monk ride or Catherine the Great's Equestrian Adventure.

those are funny ideas but i don't see russia happening. the only country i see happening is spain. i hope it comes sometime in the near future. if they did scandinavia, it would instantly become my favorite section in the park. to bad that won't happen either.

Switzerland would be awesome! You could tie in nice theming. As for Russia, I would say no. Russia would be too hard to theme and create.

How bout Poland?
jk I'm Polish so I thought I would throw that in there. The only ride in Poland would be about Absolut Vodka.
But Spain sounds like the easiest to go with.

So I've been thinking about this lately and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Back in 1997, Alpengeist was brought to the park and it was a huge B&M. Then, 2 years later in 1999, Apollo's Chariot was brought to the park, another huge B&M.
2007 - Griffon, and following the same previous trend: 2009 - ?

If there is ever a new country, I would have to go with either Spain or Portugal. I think it would be neat to have a little different flair at the park, and I think they would be pretty easy to theme.
