Ok, so today I went to Busch Gardens Africa with my brother and because it was Saturday, they had both Lion and Tiger open. The first coaster we went on was Lion (Yellow side). Personally, I really like that side, it is a lot smoother, and in the back has some great airtime.

The one thing I could not stand was not once, the entire time we were there, did they ever launch two trains at the same time. What gives? They spend 7-8 million on roller coasters, and when they actually have both of them open, they don't ever launch them together.

Now that I got that off my chest, I was wondering if there is anyone who could explain to me why they would do such a thing. First off, this is the slowest loaded ride I have basically ever been on. Is it the ride ops, or do they just not care to launch them and sync them ever. Sorry about the rant. Lol. Just want to see if anyone has any ideas.

I agree with almost everything you said other then the title of your thread. They do load very slow and the fact the rarely duel is silly. I really got no idea on my either of those things happen.

Well, as far as a waste of money, im talking about how they spent money to feature dueling coasters, but they never duel.

I went a couple of years ago and they had both sides open. But they were not dueling. I didn't understand that. Its sad to hear that they never duel. I also agree that this is a slow loading coaster. It was the longest wait of the day.

Having two tracks increases capacity even if they load slowly.

Building on structure saves on construction costs and time.

Having two tracks allows one side to still operate while the other is being repaired.

The park is pressed for space so building intertwined tracks saves space.

With all that said I'd rather see it duel/race but you can't have everything in life.

This reminds me of The Racer at Kings Island. Every time i've been there, they've never raced. It takes away from the ride I think.

Good points Larrygator. I would never have thought of a few of those.

Plus having that extra structure could add to cross overs and headchoppers.

Alot of racing and dueling coasters dont race. Theres only one that i know races alot and thats gemani and thats a basic layont. It would be better if something better raced more like gwazi but parks dont really care to them its " show me the money!" So people are going to go because they have a racing coaster there but parks never run them so it dosent even matter. sad

What about Hersheypark's Lightning Racer & Islands of Adventure's Dueling Dragons? They both race and/or duel consistently. Anyway, if Gwazi ran both tracks together more, than people would have a better experience with their fly-by occurrences. Gwazi's definitely one of the worst coasters ever when it comes to maintaining the length of lines.

You really need to go more places or research more if you are going to make statements like that.

B&MRULES, do you ever look at what you write. Most of the time it doesn't make sense, and is grammatically incorrect.

Back to the point.

Do you think that Busch Gardens originally intended to build this coaster and practically never have it duel, or when it opened and they realized that it wasn't drawing big crowds they decided to only have one side run.

I have never heard. We asked last time and they ran it dueling for me.

Are you saying that you asked them to open a coaster, and they did?

Same as coaster05. I asked them to duel and they did.

All you have to do is ask them to duel the trains!

Wow! Its that simple? Next time I go and they are both open, I will definitely ask. Pretty good stuff.

I actually enjoyed both sides of the ride. A lot. I have no idea other then the capacity what is wrong with it.

In my experience, Gwazi has been a pretty average to above average coaster. The layout is pretty good, and the forces are nice in several places. However, the much-discussed capacity and non-dueling/racing aspects do tarnish its image, and ultimately, as least since the demise of Python, it's probably my least favorite "big" coaster at BGT (read, everything other than Cheetah Chase).

Yeah, I find Lion to be much better than tiger. Tiger to me is rougher, and the whole time im riding it im in agony. To be honest though, I like tigers layout better, but its just too rough.

^I just don't see it. I was nowhere close to feeling anything that would be considered to rough. My wife felt the same way. I guess I have no idea what people expect from a coaster.

Gwazi is not what I would call smooth, but I don't find it to be excessively rough either. It's a woodie, so I know going into it to expect some jostling. But overall, I think that the ride maintains itself well, and holds back from really punishing the rider.

I'm with Animan, I felt jostling, but I wouldn't say rough. I equate rough with pain and I can't say I came off either side in pain.

I was just there 4 months ago, so my assesment is pretty recent.

Not directed at anyone in particular, but I really think people should toughen up a little. If you don't want some beating, maybe coasters aren't the hobby for you.

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with a little roughness, but I find that when sitting on tiger, its just a little too rough, and when the ride is over, my body is exhausted. Ive been on son of beast, and that was rough. I honestly find this to be on a similar level as that was. Atleast, the tiger side.

I wouldn't compare gwazi to Son of Beast. Gwazi is a good woodie, SoB is just bad. I also enjoyed Villian. I don't know what people expect when they get on woodies.

SOB is one of the only coaster that I may not ride again because of roughness. I honestly thought I had injured my kidneys. Tiger was not even a firm touch.
