I saw a special on the travel channel about this park. I must say after seeing that special and reading the reviews for the coasters on this site I would LOVE to make a trip up to Wisconsin to check it out. That Woodie that goes underground looks absolutely amazing. Any of you planning on making a trip up to Mt Olympus or already gone? I'd love to hear a little detail regarding this place.

I wrote a Wisconsin Dells trip report last August, but unlike larrygator, I'm too lazy to dig it up, and I wouldn't know how to link to it if I did. I will tell you, however, that I consider that one of the greatest roller coaster vacations of my life. Mt. Olympus has its detractors because its staff and operations have historically been somewhat lax, but if you can deal with that and you like wooden roller coasters, it's a must. In my mind, Hades is still the ride that brought the wooden roller coaster into the present and pointed the way toward its future, without losing anything great about the form's past. Avalanche, which is right up the street, would be worth the trip alone.

Thanks for the imput. The thing that surprises me about all of this is the reputation of the staff being so rude. That's usually something you'd expect to hear from a Jersey park. Aren't the people up in Wisconsin supposed to be overly friendly? Guess not.

Many of the employees at Mt Olympus are not locals but Albanians. It is not so much that they are rude as they are lazy and uncaring and don't have a great command of English. The residents of Wisconsin are very friendly.

I have an opposite view of Larry as I found most the people in Wisconsin to be kind of prics, but I was also in a rotten mood so I may have been overly sensitive.
